As much as it takes, as long as the cost of advertising doesn't exceed the money to be made from the sale. For example, if I'm selling a product that I make $25 dollars from each sale, in order to turn a profit I'd have to spend less than $25. Of course, you're better off building a list once you've found a product that converts well on Clickbank and you'll be able to market more than just that one product to them.

This question has a lot of variables, but I typically spend 1-2x the offer payout in testing.

How much ROI I make after a campaign is converting is always different.

Are you able to elaborate on what you do in terms of testing? I'd be interested to know. I'm hoping to get into affiliate marketing myself. Specifically with Amazon...but, I've never had success with it. I'm thinking this time would be different because I'd actually invest money in advertising....

It really varies from traffic source to offer as well, I don't have a 1 size fits all perfectly plan. The most important element is to use tracking.

If you have a specific traffic source in mind, I could share my thoughts.

Amazon's affiliate program isn't something I would personally use paid traffic for I would typically use it in conjunction with content creation on something like a blog.
