Paid Ads Vs. Affiliate Ads

I'm planning on launching a new blog within the next month or so. Since there won't be enough traffic for the first couple of months, I don't foresee any potential interest in paid ads. I was thinking of adding affiliate links in place of ads. I was wondering if anyone finds that their affiliate links convert better than a paid ad. Is having an affiliate link instead of ad a better long-term solution for anyone here on the forum?

I've just heard of too many horror stories from people not getting paid from Google ads.

You can't tell anything without testing it yourself. Every website is different.

    It depends...!

    what is your blog about?
how do you intend to promote it?

It's a celebrity gossip sort of blog. I was thinking of products like Amazon dresses and other stuff like that.

I think its a very good idea, but you should also use affiliate products! But the right answer will definitely come from enough tests. The most important is to start.

If you are just starting up your blog, I would say you would need pretty good traffic to be able to make some consistent and reliable income.. affiliate ads would be faster and at least you would be in full control at the end of the day!

    Good luck!

Testing is the only way to understand this! I'd say start with PPC first and then move to other traffic sources.

Thank you everyone! For some reason I don't have a thank you button. I just started working from home recently so I'm excited to start making money. I'll try different methods for different websites like some of you have suggested.

wish we could give any definitive answer but that presumption would really take away the opportunity that otherwise you'd have found profitable! testing is the only way!

Personally have heard the same stories with the conversions, but what really matters on who you are trying to market to with Google ads. Using ads can be effective, if you really know what you are doing create the traffic, and how much you are really are wanting to spend.

Some people have successful campaigns with Google ads, but they have been taught the right methods.

Do some research on how to use Google ads and come from there in being successful while doing it.
