I'm a newbie with buying media traffic.
I've done all I can with finding resources on bidding strategies.

Right now, within the context of Facebook PPC (specifically dark posts), I'm bidding CPM starting with the lowest suggested bid, and then working my bid upward as I get more ad impressions.

Which leads to my question - since the reach of my target audiences ranges between 1,000 to 15,000 people for each ad set, if I want more ad impressions, does that mean I should bid higher and higher for it to happen?

Would love to hear your input on this, even though this may seem common sense to you.

The more tight your targeting is the more it's going to cost to get any impressions. The audience you're going after is super small so yea expect to pay a lot probably way more then it's suggesting.

Your strategy of starting low doesn't work well for this particular scenario you need to do the opposite if you want to keep the reach that low, bid super high to get a lot of impressions in the beginning and a high CTR this will ensure the ad server keeps serving ads. If you have a huge reach then yea you can bid low still get a decent amount of impressions and then raise your bid accordingly.

That's a good point. Thanks for pointing out how these bidding strategies work for tightly targeted crowds.

I agree with ankee, there has to be a balance between how tight you target and how much you expect to pay
As for bidding strategies, starting low and moving up works, just the big thing with cpm to remember is you are paying for how many times someone views your ad, so you want to make sure you have a good ad that will give you a decent ctr

Update, after taking the recommendations, my ads are having way more impressions. Enough statistical significance for me to get a few email list subscribers to start playing with
