CPM 50k Views Per Day - How Much Should I Be Earning?

Hi guys!

Just wanted to pick the brains of some of you Warriors. I've asked similar before but I know the advertising world moves fast so just want to see if anyone has any suggestions.

I run a video-game website that offers guides, reviews, news, the typical stuff. We average about 10,000 - 20,000 UV's per day, and occasionally spike upwards to anywhere near 150,000

I'm currently using InfoLinks in-text ads and Buy Sell Ads for banners. InfoLinks averages about $2.00 - $2.50 CPM while the Buy Sell Ads banners are closer to 0.30. BSA also drops severely during our busier days, going as low as 0.15 CPM.

I've tried products with ClickBank, Max Bounty and other affiliate networks but no luck. Are we making the right amount for the traffic we get or should I look into other options?

Thanks!

you can earn 10$_30$ per day with 20k UV per day ( in entirement niche)

Try adsense , adsense is best paying ad network.

if you can't use adsense , so try other ad networks:
you can use CPMFun for your entirement website.
i hear that they are good ad network for entirement websites.

For sure, it seems quite low CPM… But I don't think you're asking the right question. Switching networks won't do really much and you will mostly rely on luck. Monetization optimization is not about switching network. You first need to understand your audience. Just imagine you're an affiliate and you've just found your website and you want to advertise on it. What kind of work would you do before buying ads on it?
Do what you should do and you will then understand what kind of networks, offers to advertise.

Have you tried running Gaming related CPA/Affiliate offers? Since that's what your website is about. You should be earning more with the amount of traffic, unless the visitors are all youngsters with no credit card

Properly placed Adsense units will pay you much more than Infolinks.

I don't know how much gaming traffic costs, but I do know its very competitive.

With that much traffic, I can't imagine you getting less than $10 CPM total if you have your units in the right spots of your sites. Also depends on what countries your visitors are located, but $10 per thousand page views is conservative IMHO without knowing very much about the space.

Also putting some affiliate banners up in other strategic places on your site for strategy guides to popular games they come to your site for info for could also help raise revenue.

And of course, building a list so you can either send them back to your site or send them relevant offers always a plus.

$10 CPM is bloody expensive! I find it difficult to pay more than $1 CPM rates. You have to remember with the average of 3 click in 1,000 views, that $1 CPM amounts to $0.33 per click!

Thats why many BSA with click cost higher than $2 have large numbers of unsold inventory.

A newbie in banner advertising may pay $5 CPM but when he realises its a 0.3% clciktru rate on the average and ends up payinh $1.66 per click , he wakes up!

I dont see how you'll be profitable in the gaming niche realising how low their EPC's are if you pay $2 CPM how much more $10

Thanks for all the advice/info guys. Sorry for lengthy delay, reality gets in the way from time to time >.<

The gaming medium does feel like a rather strange avenue in advertising as a staggering number use adblock and as the general demographic are very active internet users, sidebar blindless and other advertising hindrances come into play.

We're going to launch a new version of the site soon and I'm going to experiment with better placement of our current properties, hopefully that will help somewhat.
