I finally did it, a small case study

11 replies
So if you have checked any of my previous threads you will know I have been having a hard time setting up tracking, it turns out all I needed was to add a redirect outbound link so I would know which url or keyword that is getting me clicks(I didn't have it before because I thought that was just to cloak my affiliate link), so I finally managed that, still can't figure out which clicks converts, I still can't set up the postback url from Max Bounty with my Prosper202 tracking, I will work on that later after I optimize me LP

Niche=MMO gaming
Network=MaxBounty
Traffic Source=Lead Impact
imps on LI=2518=38$
clicks to the offer =76 (CTR of 3 % which is very low and I am trying to improve that by adding audio playback to my LP)
Conversions=7=11.55$ (CR 7% also very low, I will try to add some more specific URLs to get more targeted customer)
Another day
imps on LI=808=12.12 $
clicks to the offer=10
conversions=0
reasons I removed some keywords that was too broad but was actually converting, now I added some other keywords and waiting to see how well they will convert, I am going to keep at it until I find something that works
Final results = loss in advertising costs 39.5 $ (along with other costs loss as this is my only campaign so far )

what do you think guys ?? any extra tips or remarks ??

    You might want to consider setting up a landing page that links to several different games related to a certain theme. That way you will get some people converting for more than one offer and make more ROI. Also, having a list of games around a theme as your popup means you can target more loosely and still convert (ie. popups on TV-schedule websites showing a list of games related to popular TV shows).

    You're on the right track, I think you should look at rotating landing pages and offers, also make sure you pause targets which aren't getting you conversions

    Congrats for taking action!
    You doing great.
    Yeah, tracking has a learning curve but soon it will become second nature to you.
    Use quantcast and google's display planner to find url targets highly targeted towards your offer.
    Test mutiple LPs.

    Keep this thread updated with your results.

    Good Luck

    Thank you all, sometimes a little motivation is all I need having to see money spent with no returns is really painful, and not being able to track that is even more painful for a beginner like me, thanks for Google display planner tip, I was told that before but always forgot to do it, I am still on the fence about rotating LPs sounds like a tougher learning curve and it is said to might cause lose of clicks

    there is anther 7 $ spent with only 1.6 return but I have added some keywords and stopped some other URL that was getting a little to no imp but no clicks, stopped them just to save as much as I can because I think I will not dare to add more deposits if I burn through the first 1k$ with negative ROI

    I am also doing some research for another campaign that was offered to me by my AM, and I was told to always follow the AM advice

      Have you talked to your Affiliate Manager at MaxBounty regarding setting up the postback URL, they can probably help you out. If you need help reaching your AM feel free to PM me.

    You may also want to rotate this with other gaming offers and see what converts best.

    something is wrong with my 2nd campaign tracking link, it seems that the prosper redirect link redirects people to my first campaign not the 2nd one, I deleted all of it and did it again and again and it always redirects people to my 1st campaign not 2nd, I double checked the the campaign link and the URL in my landing page and removed all pixels that I tried to add before on max bounty and still the redirect link generated by Propser directs people to my first campaign not the 2nd

    please help

    just like Chris said, you need to put a rotator in between to get even better results.

    you are totally on a right path..

    good luck!

    Thanks robin, I am trying to figure out the rest of tracking first before I start difficult stuff or at least more complicated, and it seems I was over optimistic, since I made the thread spend 30 $ more for only 2 conversions, maybe because first day was Friday
