Do you think tracking companies are stealing your campaigns? (hosted)

Hi someone recommended voluum tracking the other day and I asked if it was self hosted....and the person told me no the company actually hosts it...

I have also seen people using hosted versions of Prosper202.

Do you think people who own these tracking systems have the potential to steal your campaigns?... since they can see all your data...and everyone elses.

Are you worried about that at all?

Let's put it this way, If I owned a hosted tracker I would definitely look at all that free data people are giving me because that data = $$$$$$.

So for that reason I would never use a hosted tracker and it's mind-boggling that people do. And especially Voluum considering they own Zeropark and can just copy your campaign and run it on their own network.

I pay for traffic so there's no way I'm going to give that data away for free. I like Zeropark, but I'm never going to use Voluum. CPVLab and a VPS works just fine for me.

    The money is the motive.

      Very well said mate.

I would never use a 3rd party tracking solution that I don't have 100% control over - let alone have another company snoop on my data I pay hard cash for via a hosted tracker.

The only tracker I do use is the Google conversion tracker for my PPC campaigns in Adwords, but I still never set an actual commission or price-points for each conversion in order to at least minimize the data-exposure on the campaign itself

I have thought about this, it would be a very bad business move to jeopardize trust from their clients and if they were caught I'd have a feeling they would end up ousting themselves from this industry. At the same time I guess it can't hurt to be cautious

    Hi Joey Babbs,
In the early days I am sure I had lost domain names I had searched for by taking too long to consider them. Gone by next morning.

Does'nt seem to happen to me nowadays, but there are always companies, or staff within them that are disreputable, so if there is a risk, I would be cautious.

    cheers, Mal.

The same exact thing has happened to me too!

I was just telling my son the other day that people do watch what's going on -- and they'll move in as soon as they see an opportunity. It's just like with those damn airline sites that jack up the price of a ticket if they notice you're looking at a particular date (and that date is nearing)!
