Helloo
I'm 100% new to affiliate marketing and finally joined Maxbounty but whenever I look at offers they have Earnings Per Click. I still don't really understand what EPC does for me. Is it the first and biggest thing I look for in offers/ how is it important to me?

Thank you, I really appreciate your help

Sometimes it is earnings per click, so if you had 200 clicks and 1 sale of $100. That would be a $0.5 EPC. So your current traffic is worth $1 each person (well kinda).

EPC tells you how much money you will earn per click. Basically, the better something converts (from traffic to sale), the higher the EPC will be. A $1.00 EPC is considered normal -- even though we like to see higher. If you see a product with a really high EPC that's part of a sales funnel, it means that not only does the main offer convert well but so do the products in the funnel, which means you can make a lot of money because of the up-sells.

You will see a couple of different types of payments for your marketing effort. Some examples are
    1. Pay per click (money paid out based on the number of clicks on the ad)
    2. Pay per lead (money paid out based on the number of people that subscribe but not buy)
    3. Pay per sale (money paid out only after a purchase has been made)

EPC is a good indicator of whether a promotion WAS profitable for you, but you`ll really only know whether or not it was successful after you count your dollars.

There`s plenty of ways that EPC can be used to create confusion and attract affiliates based on false pretense, so you should always be careful for...

Who's EPC is it? Is the reported EPC calculated on affiliate commissions paid out, or sales generated (in which case your EPC as an affiliate will be half that amount on a 50% commission offer)

How reliable and trustworthy is the source reporting the EPC? Did the product owner really do extensive testing with different traffic sources, or is it based on their own results promoting to their own audience?

At which point of the funnel do they collect their data? I've seen big players yell at the top of their lungs about their killer 4$ to 6$ EPC.... when we cross-checked the data, we concluded that EPC was calculated on their total sales from traffic who had first OPTED in and was then sent through their tripwire / core offer.

So in this case the real EPC for us as an affiliate was more towards the 1$ to 2$ range, considering that half of our traffic to the lead page never signed up but were left out of their equation.

Still a profitable promo, but not any better than a smaller marketer with an EPC for affiliates of $1 across the entire funnel.

So I guess what I'm saying is... don`t let EPC pull wool over your eyes. Follow your gut feeling and always track your own results. Other people`s EPC matter only little to your business.

EPC is Earnings Per Click, therefore in order to calculate it you need to have two numbers - the number of clicks to your offer, and your earnings from the promotion.

If you sent an e-mail to your list of 1000, had 400 people open the mail and 150 unique clicks (make sure you only use Unique clicks to calculate your results, not global clicks), that is the number we want to use.

Now if you made a total of $234 in affiliate earnings from that promotion, we'll divide that by the number of clicks and come up with your own EPC for that promotion.

        I.E: 234 / 150 = 1.56

In this example, your EPC on that specific promotion would be $1.56, meaning that for every click you sent to the offer, you earned $1.56.

Note that the same promotion or offer may convert differently for you at different times as well depending on several factors, but in general you should be able to keep tracking your results and come up with your own averages and get better at spotting trends and which offers should convert well or better with your own audience.

EPC can be a good indicator of an offer's overall success in the network, but it shouldn't be the only thing used to judge whether a campaign converts well or whether or not you should run it. It's based on the average earnings per click of every affiliate in the network (MaxBounty) who is sending clicks to the offer.

A great offer that converts well might see an over abundance of new and perhaps inexperienced affiliates running it. They could be sending a substantial amount of clicks to the offer but their method is too green and thus ineffective in converting actual leads. Occurrences like this can have a negative impact on the EPC of an offer, even if it one of the highest converting offers in the network.

Your best bet is to just ask your Affiliate Manager at MaxBounty. They will know better then anyone which offers have the potential to make you money, regardless of the EPC.

    Cheers.

epc - simply means how well the offer is converting with your traffic . it gives you the rough estimate of the money you might earn with your traffic ... the higher the epc the good the offer converts .. see if the offer is of 4$ you
you send 100 clicks ( from your traffic 100 people click the offer link ) and you have around 10 sign ups

it means you have 40$ so the epc is (100/40=0.40 ) so your making 0.40$ per 1 person

it doesn't mean you will get 0.40$ per click it simply means how much money you are making per click

helps to decide how good your traffic source and the offer conversion rate is

Some people will pick offers based on this, personally I try not to pay too much attention to network epc. There are so many different ways to promote offers so,the numbers you see are likely not what you will see. For example if someone is direct linking to an offer with ppv traffic, it will drive the epc down. If someone is buying banner ads and sending people through a landing page first, this could drive the epc up.
