AdSense on slideshow websites... what am I missing?

I currently run a fairly successful website that uses AdSense and RevContent. I try to go out of my way to follow the AdSense policy guidelines however I've been flagged a few times for a few things that I would consider fairly minor.

But looking at those popular slideshow websites (the ones that advertise on RevContent, AdBlade, etc.), they are far more aggressive than I've ever been with their ads, and they're clearly in violation of AdSense's policies. How are they getting away with this? These websites have ranked well on Alexa for some time so I don't think they're fly-by-night operations that just shut down and reopen under a new name whenever they get caught. What am I missing?

    I hear you man.

It's just so annoying from the advertiser's point of view to see that your budget has been spent on these clicks which are probably mostly accidental.

And the thing is that there are just so many of them. So, it's not like someone has been flying under the radar or anything. It's pretty obvious that Google doesn't really do anything about it.

What you are missing is that not all publishers have the same Adsense rules. There are top level ("premium") publishers that are allowed to have different ads and different rules from Google.

These are high traffic sites and they produce a high volume of business for Google. They have been operating for some time and produce a lot of business for google so are rewarded.

Please do not 'release balloons' for celebrations. The balloons and trailing ribbons entangle birds and kill wildlife and livestock that think the balloons are food.

If some websites are not flagged now for violations, then they might be flagged a little later. It's just that they will be facing issues quickly. Correct your minor flags early to avoid future bans.
