Have questions about using paid traffic for affiliate marketing? Ask me here...

Whats up warriors,

I haven't posted in awhile and I've been busy scaling campaigns and working on other ventures, but I put aside some time today to answer some questions from you guys. Mainly because I see the same questions day in and day out without any real answers. So I want to answer any questions I can to the best of my ability to help you guys out.

Let me tell you about my background...

I've been doing affiliate marketing for over 8 years now. I started way back in the early ringtone days and have been doing quite well for myself. My single day record for sales was $11,340 in a single day with a weight loss product. All of my sales have been through paid advertising, I don't mess around with SEO.

If you have any questions about paid advertising and how use it to scale your affiliate campaigns or even just sell a product you just created, then post your questions here and I'll do my best to answer them or point you in the right direction.

Hopefully this helps you guys and I'm looking forward to your questions.

I would like to ask which advertising platforms you use? Facebook Ads?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[11035547].message }}
  • I would want to double my investments purchasing traffic and promoting "make money online" courses and I think that maybe the best option is to promote back-end high-ticket commissions products but without actually purchasing the products before?

Also purchasing solo ads can be an effective strategy for you?

Facebook, Native, PPC, PPV, And I'm even doing some free stuff with youtube. There is actually some really easy opportunities to use youtube to generate highly targeted, converting traffic for free. It's really easy to do as well. But that's not the point of this thread.

Basically if there is traffic for sale, I use it or have at least tried it.

This is one area I haven't dabbled in much. I'm not a fan of the make money online courses. They can work, but from my experience they are all crappy, but with that being said, before you buy any traffic you need to...

Figure out who your target demographic is and build an avatar. Who is most likely going to buy those products?

Is it a 22 year old college drop out looking to make some quick money? Probably not if the product costs $5,000.

Maybe your target market is 45 year old blue collar workers who are looking for ways to make extra money because they are worried about having enough money for retirement.

Get specific with your targeting. Find out who buys these products and target these people and speak to them and their needs.

And as for the solo ads question. That's one traffic source I will never use unless I know 110% that the list I am buying from is real. It's too easy to fake having a 'good list' these days. The whole idea of these people saying things like "we guarantee 100 clicks!" or "we guarantee 50 signups" is ridiculous. Those clicks and signups are most likely fake and useless. On top of that these people have the nerve to charge $1 per click for this crap.

Stay away from solo ads. You can't really scale with solo ads reliably anyway. Focus on real traffic.

I agree - solo ads can send you down a rabbit hole and can burn up your money very quickly. I stay away from solo ads too.

    Hi Refuse,

Great of you to offer your info on traffic..

Guess a question a number of people would have is about the companies you buy traffic from.

There is so much bot traffic out there you can loose a lot of money without even trying..

I've gone own a few sites that sell traffic which get supposed good reviews and the first thing I do is try to contact them through support and most of time you never even get a response..

So it makes you totally leery of getting involved with any of them..

    Thanks

The truth is bot traffic is always going to be around. Even big companies have problems with bot traffic. It's just part of the business right now. However anything over 10% of total traffic being bots is unacceptable and you should move on to a better traffic source if that's the case.

Just use the big and reputable companies when you buy traffic. Once you're profitable and you have some money to spend, then you can branch out and test more dangerous waters. Some of the smallest traffic sources can give you the biggest ROI, but I wouldn't start there. Start where the traffic is proven to be good.

        Hi,

Who are the reputable companies, even anyone really has good feeling about would be interesting to know,,,

          Google, Bing, Facebook, etc

          Taboola, Revcontent, Outbrain for native

If you want to do PPV, then companies like Trafficvance and leadimpact.

Now depending on what type of traffic you want, you can go down to the next level and work on mid tier networks and still be profitable, but I can't list every single legit ad company here or it would be a huge post.

The point is just stick to what works and stay away from places that don't have good reviews or are well known unless you are prepared to lose that money for testing purposes.

Would you ever be willing to teach anyone 1 to 1 like how to promote Maxbounty or Clickbank stuff on Bing? I have some tools like instabuilder and CPVLab but I never mastered how to use them.

    Thanks.

  • Thanks. Is Outbrain a good place to buy please?
Kindly recommend other good sources apart from Facebook.
    Thanks again.

    Hi

How much experience do you have with paid advertising on Youtube. I heard you can get some really great targeted traffic that's also not expensive with YT paid advertising.

    Any info on this?

Best newbie friendly traffic sources are the ones that will let you play around with them at no cost. Google and bing both offer free credit for new account signups. adwords is always around $100 and bing can offer as much as $300. So start there, but play it safe. Google isn't fond of affiliates. So see what other people are doing in your niche and model their websites before you start advertising.

      Native, Facebook and Google.

Native is amazing once you figure it out and facebook is awesome for the amount of targeting you can do and if you get good at facebook you can pay as little as 0.01 cent per click.

However Google is still king in terms of laser targeting and getting insane value per click. If you target your keywords right, you can almost guarantee every person that lands on your website is ready to buy.

I have some experience, but I haven't focused much on it. Advertising on youtube can be hit or miss. it's all about your targeting. I wouldn't advise getting into it unless you have a big budget to figure out whats working and what's not because you'll probably need to spend a lot of money to get any reasonable data.

Do you only pay for traffic when you earn a huge EPC, like $5+?

I'm only earning about $1/click with the best performing products in my blog posts. At a 20% click rate from the posts, each visitor is only worth about $0.20, so I can only pay $0.10 per visitor. I haven't been able to find any real traffic for that little.

Even getting them to opt in to my email list doesn't really raise my earnings per visitor much.

This why there is a huge difference between a regular content page / blog post vs a landing page.

Your blog post is probably written more passive and probably geared more towards seo. The fact that you get 1$ per click with your blog post is pretty good.

but I create websites to sell from the moment the visitor lands on it. That's how I can afford to pay 1-2$ per click, because each visitor that comes to that page is laser targeted and most of the time ready to buy something. So all I have to do is sell them on buying right now.

So in your case you have two options.

      1. keep doing the blogging and hope that your SEO eventually pays off and you can make a good living getting 1$ a click from free SEO traffic.

      or

      2. if you don't think SEO is going to be your long term goal, start split testing your blog post and turning it into a landing page with the only goal of getting the visitor to buy now.

oh and if you're using amazon to do this... SEO is most likely your only path to success. Amazon commissions are too small to do anything meaningful with paid traffic, unless you can get it dirt cheap which most of the time is impossible if you want quality traffic.
