Newbie Looking for Affiliate Networks - selling physical product

Hi guys - long time ghost reader first time posting on Warrior Forum.

To quickly introduce myself - I've set up an eCommerce store and want to explore selling our products via affiliates. The business is based in Australia.

We've gotten rejected from W4 and haven't heard back from a few other affiliate networks. It's proving a tough nut to crack.

I've searched the forums and couldn't really find a guide to listing our products on an affiliate network, so would love some guidance as to best practices for doing so.

The questions I have:

1. What affiliate networks would be best for Australia?
2. Are there any common newbie mistakes I should avoid when listing my product for affiliates to sell? (traps or scams to avoid, things that would piss affiliates off)
3. What would be considered a good % or $ value to attract high quality affiliates? (all our products are priced over $100 AUD)
4. Should I include a validation period for the sale?
5. As a first timer on affiliate networks - should I allow affiliates to dictate copy and content or should we keep branding homogeneous and produce it ourselves?

Many thanks!

    Hi George

Just a thought which might help here - if you are selling physical and retail goods, why not open a store account on Amazon as well and make use of he Amazon affiliate program? That tends to be quite good and you should get approved in no time.

Alternatively, have you already approached CJ or Tradedouber as they are probably your best alternatives for an eCommerce or Retail affiliate program.

I haven't checked out Amazon's affiliate program or Tradedouber, I'll give them a whirl today.

Commission Junction (CJ) is one of the best affiliate networks where you can find physical selling products.

    hey there

If you are selling physical products i would recommend 3 companies

    1. mobe.com
    2 cj.com
    3 ebay.com

Mobe is a growing company and they have a lot of upside.. they are based in asia.. they specialise in high commission ticket niches/products
Cj sells everything ...apart from amazon cj might be right up your alley
ebay ..they also sells everything both digital and non digital niches/products can be found on ebay

a .. as a newbie stick with 1 niche/product until you start making some sales, then you can add another.. as a newbie you will need to devote a lot of time in promoting the niche
    b. $50 -$1250 is a good range for quality niches on the front end and $2500 -5000 on your backend
c . if the product sells well then no need for validation time. make sure you make arrangements promote niche/ product well
d.keep your branding local and produce it yourself until you can find a partner .. i would not give up more than 30%of the company

    ok

Sam - very grateful for your response. I'm checking out mobe.com right away.

I'm in the middle of setting up on ebay and CJ.

I've read of instances that some affiliates would get someone to make a purchase, get a refund, and essentially get paid a commission while the merchant is left scratching their head. Is this something that the affiliate companies will protect merchants against or should I be more street wise?

I'm also starting to look into sales funnel programs, I want to try everything, see what works best, and then prune the hedges on what doesn't work.

    - Admitad; the largest CPA affiliate network
    - Your inventory should be good and worthful, website should also be good, it should be user-friendly
    - Indeed you should include minimum 30-40 days of validation period
    - If you are having electronics products then you can consider 3-4% and if apparels than max 15% to your affiliates.
    - Try to allow dictate copy to your affiliate, this is helpful in increasing traffic.
    Thanks
