Time to brag: How do you make money online?

Hey guys,

Here`s a legit question for all of you: How do you make money online?

From ads to building websites, to email marketing, crazy funnels and so on, help us better understand your recipe for success.

BUT, leave a bit of VALUE in your message as well.

Instead of just saying "I`m promoting products to my email list", you could help us all with more information, like "I`m making $1K/month by promoting ClickBank products to my super-niche specific(ex: health) 10K subscribers email list - I grow the list personally in 6 months via FB ads/I bought the list from X or Y".

Cheers!

I've been promoting affiliate / CPA offers for over 16 years.

However, I do it quite differently than most.

I heavily promote PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers. This is because there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

I favor offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them, as they have overall worked the best. They also tend to have the greatest mass appeal (will be of interest to a large general audience), so the potential exists to produce high volume and they are fairly easy to cross promote on the back-end.

Some of the verticals (niches) I have done extremely well with are: education, insurance, loans, debt, credit, mortgage, assistance, discount offers, homeowner offers, etc...

The bulk of the offers that I promote pay $20-$40 per lead, but I also promote offers that pay more and less. You don't want to get too caught up on what an offer pays because how well it converts is just as important. For example, if you have an offer that pays $9, but if it converts at 2X or more of a $20 offer, then it will perform about the same or possibly better. At the same time, if you have an offer that pays $90 and it converts poorly, it may not even be worth promoting.

Bottom line: it's far easier to get someone fill out a short form than to get them to pull out their credit card and make a purchase. So why struggle with trying to sell this or that, when you can provide free information that users want/need and get paid well doing it.

I drive traffic by acquiring 3rd party email data, which is data that the users have shown an interest in a specific vertical(niche) and have given permission to receive messages from third parties. You get the opt-in record for every user and it's 100% can-spam compliant.

By acquiring data, I'm building assets that I then own and can market to over and over at very low cost. So I control and can drive traffic on-demand to the offers I'm promoting. Which is key to CPA / affiliate marketing success. However, 3rd party data will rarely be as responsive as a high-quality opt-in list you build yourself. But it really doesn't matter because it is much cheaper and highly scalable compared to convention list building.

So the initial data that is acquired isn't the most import part of the process in the long run. The real key to making it work is to always be collecting your opens / clickers, segmenting, and removing unresponsive users. That way over time you are building smaller, but more responsive lists that you should eventually be able to send less and make more with each mailing. Essentially you are converting the data from quantity to quality.

Basically, I monetize the data using PPL offers because they offer the path of least resistance to generating conversions($$$) and converting the data into cash producing assets.

Obviously, there is more to it, but done right it can be extremely profitable. Everyone that I know that is in the business and knows what they are doing, for the most part, does 6-7 figures. While that's a huge range, much comes down to one's ability to scale and effectively build / manage the infrastructure needed to scale.

    Something to think about.

As a beginner, you kind of have to go with who you can get approved with. A few you could try are w4, globalwide, revenueads.

I mainly just send US offers. I acquire 3rd party data and it's 100% can-spam compliant. However, there are other countries that have much stricter laws and it's not OK to use. But at the same time, the bulk of the data is US based. So it's not like I'm losing out in some way.

Keep in mind that what I really do is monetize data. I'm just using PPL offers because they offer the path of least resistance to generating conversions.

If I was just promoting PPL offers using mainstream marketing methods or I was monetizing data using non-PPL offers, in both cases I have no doubt I would haver never been as successful as I have been.

That's not to say you have to monetize 3rd party data, most marketers that promote PPL don't. It's just what has worked for me.

    What is your business about?
It is the first question what is important.
Then you should analyze your site.
    And after, make huge traffic.
Or, start to sell your product on different platforms.
I do not want to write here about my business, but if you have some questions about how to do with yours, feel free to ask

Well I used to work hard at it. I've built thousands of site etc etc etc. Now I just stuff leads into my autoresponder account and allow it to do its job. So instead of working 15 hours a day managing websites I spend 2 hours a day testing my email settings and conversions. Why I wasted 5 years building website....I was STUPID

Difference income when from 0 to $30K a month an has been that way since 2010...

Owning a site and free traffic is just too much work for me

Free is via social media and forum marketing.

Paid is mainly via solo ads. Exploring other options e.g. Bing.

My main income is my business - content marketing and SEO services.

I've built it starting out as a freelance writer scraping up the crumbs at the bottom of the internet, making $5-15 per article. I continued to hone my writing skills, then got more serious about learning marketing, then SEO.

Eventually I started writing guest posts for sites like Social Media Examiner, SEMrush, Duct Tape Marketing, etc. These posts brought me a few of my best clients, and it continued to grow from there.

I also make a few hundred dollars in Amazon affiliate commissions from my travel blog, which is more of a passion project than something I'm doing for my main income. Right now I'm focusing on create top-notch content, doing some SEO and linkbuilding, to get my affiliate pages to rank. Fun stuff!

In 2002 I wrote some Windows software that I sold online. That did well up until around 2009 when the world changed and people started getting into apps.

In 2010 I went into a new niche and made a tonne of cash while it was pretty easy to crank out articles based on keywords found in the Google Keyword Tool.

These days I make more money from my investments than I do from online micro-businesses. So this probably the most valuable lesson in this entire thread... if you make money online, invest it wisely.
