Anyone use Yahoo PPC?

Does anyone here use Yahoo Search Marketing? I've just signed up with it, but the cost per clicks are freakin insane. From what it looks like, I don't see how I can get a good ROI with them. If so, do the prices go down after you get a good quality score or something?

Thanks

Yes their CPC is very high, but there ads get better click for the same copy of adwords, because of looks and publisher network

True sweetrock, they convert better than google, less traffic, but better conversions, otherwise their interface is a pain in the neck

    Hey Mark,

I really like Yahoo! That's kind of wild that you're seeing such high CPC's.

I have a handful of campaigns running with them right now, and the only CPCs that are higher then Google are in the Finance Market. I've come to find that is the case in this market with Yahoo.

As far as conversions, I see much higher conversion rates on entertainment related offers with yahoo, and also high conversions on zip submits. But lower conversion with email submits then Google and MSN. Go Figure???

    Good Luck to You Mark!

Yahho may seem more expensive, but it actually works out better.
The people that still use it are generally the people that were using the internet when Yahoo was THE portal to go to, and Google didn't exist. They haven't really evolved with the times, so they still fall for most things pretty easily.

By & large, it's a gold mine of the silver haired.

The best converting stuff I've had on there is offers aimed at seniors.

Don't use the suggested bid price. Just put your own bid price in.
Are you talkin about the minimum bid? I've set up campaigns and its saying if I don't pay some minimum bid then the ad wont be ran or something. Can I still bid lower than that?

Sorry for not getting back to you right away. I was a little under the weather last week.
They will give you suggested bids to rank high. You don't need to bid that much to make money. You can still make money with lower rankings. That is your maximum bid you are putting in. There is a chart that shows how many clicks you may expect for your bid. If you use the suggested all the time you will burn a lot of money.

The main thing you need to do is learn more about the market you are attempting to enter to find the proper keywords to target. Don't simply rely on keyword tools, do the market research.

Once you do this, you will get better prices on your clicks versus Adwords and the conversions are way better.

If you are just firing up campaigns without doing the proper research, you are just like everyone else. Most marketers do the same thing you are doing and that is why the click price seems so high.

If you target the longer tails that triggers your market, your chances of success is much higher. This also holds true on Adwords, but in my experience, Yahoo ( and MSN) convert much much better than Adwords.

How many offers did you test?
Are you comparing apples to apples?
Are you split testing the same offer on Adwords and Yahoo and comparing the data?
How much data did you use to come to this conclusion?

      Just wondering.

i have used both yahoo and adwords and what i disliked most about yahoo was the way their billing system was set-up; it was erratic IMO in how they charged me; my offer converted better on yahoo though, although only by 1 sell.
however i was one of the people that sipboy describes who kind of just put some ads up and hoped they would sell.
