Hello there,

I am new to this forum (obviously) and I need a bit of advice.

I went through the Arb. Consp. CPA course and I learned a lot, but I am still floundering. I made some money early on (about 3K my second week), but it was all downhill from there.

1. Early on, the methods I was taught wreaked havoc on my Google QS (yes, I have opened multiple accounts, but I think all of them were affected).

2. It seems that to find a golden nugget, one must burn through large amounts of cash in order to up the QS and bring down the PPC costs. This has become a problem for me.

3. I hate doing FLOGS with fake testimonials, etc. as this is simply lying. It seems to me that the WHALES in the business have no ethical dilemmas.

Here are my questions...

Is it possible to drive PPC traffic cost effectively?
If so, what am I missing?

Everyone makes it sound so easy. The AC guys talked early about hitting 1 out of 10 offers, but then featured some guy who got a serious golden nugget after like 300 offers!!!!!!!! (I have probably run something like 50-60).

What did I do wrong?

Any advice?

Thanks,

Tony

I would try using adcenter.microsoft.com. It is litterally untapped and you will have much less competition than running ads on google.

      Hey HonestBizPro...

Thanks for the reply. And Thanks for your ebook... it was awesome. As you can see from my post, I'm not exactly a CPA noob and so I know fluff when I see it. Your book has some awesome ideas that I think I can implement IMMEDIATELY. You are giving your book away for $10. Honestly, for one niche (call me crazy) I tried to break in and paid almost that amount PER CLICK!

You are free to use this as a testimonial on your page.

      Thanks again,

All of you guys have been helpful- thanks.

honestbizpro, I do have one question re: something you wrote in the book.

I have been considering cpv... i.e. xango. Have you been using this method? Do you find the traffic works better with certain kinds of traffic?

        Thanks,

      I agree with jestershaw,

You should go about using PPC on adcenter before google for the trial and error part. No matter what you will have to spend money in PPC to find what works, its inevitable, however you should try the more cost effetcive way of doing it first.

Another thought that I think might help is try working with you affiliate company. I keep my affiliate manager close in my ventures, and in turn he is always sending me new found details on the offers I'm interested in marketing, example, (a list of keywords that have been working for many people for a certain offer)....etc... and things like the stats on the offers you are promoting...whether they are doing well in search engine promotion or not...

With ppc one of your biggest assets will be the ability to quickly identify losers. Once you find a winner, scale it up. Of course this takes money that you aren't scared to lose b/c you will make it back and then some on your winners. It requires trial and testing. Go back to the successful campaigns and reverse engineer those and see how you got there.

I totally agree with Tony - Trial and error, (or more accurately, testing, review, change, test, fine-tune, test, measure, test, then test some more) then ramp up once the numbers pan out to make your margins. Not everyone will be a winner when it all comes out in the wash, but if you do it right, you should average a decent margin over time. If not - don't do it! It can get very expensive very fast if you are not careful.

Thanks Aaron and Tony for the replies. I completely agree with both of you. Unfortunately, in the course I went through, those things were not taught until AFTER I had burned through piles of cash. Now, I can not imagine teaching a CPA course without starting with testing & quality score.

When I get my income stable, I WILL (God willing) make money with CPA. But as you suggest, the testing part can whoop up on your pocket book :-/ Fun!Fun!

The only way you'll learn ppc 2 cpa is by actually doing it.

My best money maker is by far google adwords. I do not touch the search though . Content network is a goldmine used correctly.

And don't worry about the flogs. You can make a review of the product, use quotes from people who used it (search for forum comments, blogs)

You shouldn't "guarantee" any result, if the product doesn't guarantee it. Don't promote bad products. It will backfire as people will complain about it and adwords will look into it.

Scale up once you found a winner. If you have a campaign that has some conversions, try to lower the PPC until you're happy with the return.

      Thanks gabibeowolf!

      Those are some good thoughts.

I have tried the content network, and converted on one offer, but mostly with very poor results. Is there a resource you recommend on how to rightly work the content network?

I appreciate your thoughts on the flogs. I probably do tend to "over think" things. There do appear to be changes afoot. I don't know if you work with Clickbooth, but they put out a directive yesterday threatening to search out and ban floggers and review who can't produce identification of people who give testimonials, among other things.

You have to understand couple of things about CN ..

    1) Unlike search, you can only do tracking on adgroup level.

What does that mean is that you have to focus on each adgroup and have closely themed keywords in the adgroup so you can track better.

Add negative keywords. For instance, if you have a campaign related to grocery coupons, you may not want your ad to appear on sites that deal with growing vegetables so include -growing in your campaign

Use reports to see on which sites your ad appeared and if it's below your desired CPA block those websites.

    2) You can only use 50 keywords per adgroup

    3) best software ever for this : Adwords editor ... from google .. free tool ..
