Hi Out of interest, I would like to pose this question to readers. What is the highest PageRank you have on any of your sites, and how long did it take you to get it? I'll go first. My highest is a PR3, and it only took a few days to get that. I think it was a combination of an aged domain and also a backlink from an authority site. I only have a handful of backlinks to this site. |

PR3 seems to be quite easy to get. I've managed to get it on a bunch of sites within a short period of time. I did have one site get to PR4 but then it dropped down with the next update. I don't pay that much attention to it now, I'm more focused on getting targeted traffic. |

Honestly, I couldn't care less about PR. I have website with a PR1 sitting at the number #3 spot out of 1.3 MILLION websites for a term that is searched 12,000 times per month and it is bringing targeted traffic. In my mind, SERP is all that matters. After all - "He who owns Google owns the Internet" js |

Jon, that's pretty surprising! I though that PR was a measure of how much Google trusts your domain. So if you have a higher PR, you have a higher chance of Google showing you higher up in its search rankings for competitive terms. That's my understanding. If you try and increase your PR through backlinks from other sites with high PR, you could be in the no 1 position for your term. |

My understanding is that PR is something like that. I think of it as "popularity/authority with a specific anchor text keyword." Honestly, all I used were backlinks and here I am... js |

Where did you get that idea from? If you simply look at the SERP for a handful of keyword searches, you will easily notice that the PR of a web page is not an indicator of where that page ranks on the SERP. PR or PageRank is a relative indicator of how many web pages link to your page (directly or indirectly). This is sometimes referred to as link popularity and does not measure relevance or authority. Search engines will rank you page on their SERP based on relevance, regardless of your PR. Your time would be best spent if you ignored PR and instead focused on targeted (relevant) traffic. | |

Well, I am not crazy after PR but I do my bit of daily link building. My personal site used to have a PR 6, then I did not renew the hosting for two months and in the next update it lost it's PR. Right now my highest PR is 3 on one of my sites. |
