how many links to stop google dance?

I've been building back links to a keyword iw ant to rank for and have climbed the ranks only to fall as fast as i climbed over the fast 2 weeks ive been addign 3-5 quality back links per day and i went from

Spot 10 on page 1
Spot 3 on page 1
Spot 4 on page 3 (where I'm currently at)

*For the record the keyword I'm trying to rank for has buzzle and articlebase articles in the top spots with 10 back links each so ranking hard should not be an issue

My question is how many back links do i have to generate in order to stop the google dance?

As far as I know V, you can't.

Just be content in the knowledge that eventually it will settle down to a normal pretty high position.

The cliche about 'marathon not sprint' applies here.

With my own backlinking across a broad range of sites and site types, some sites dance crazily at the whiff of a new backlink whereas others only ever move at the speed of an oil tanker.

Bottom line though is that properly anchor-texted backlinks work great so keep at it!

Hi Vanquish,

You seem to be describing the effects of the QDF factor. Your rankings were boosted temporarily because of the freshness and then sank to it's true rankings.

It takes time to earn Google's trust, to Just keep doing the promotional efforts and they will pay off in the long run.
