ping is just for blogs?

I dont have a blog, but a website that sales equipment.
I would like to ping all my backlinks, is pinging just for blogs or not.

Pinging tools can be used for both - websites as well as blogs. Its a way to get the response from your server that it is working well on your website.

becareful not to "over ping" I like yo pink once a week as long as there has been an update to the site blog etc. But yes pinging is not just for blogs.

I think, the question is, if the website does not get contents added everyday or few days, would it still be pinged.

Since blogs get updated few days, but so is not the case with some websites that are selling stuff or are informational. So, would it be a good idea to ping the not-much-changing website. Did I understand it correct, Helen?

if your website dont get a lot of traffic and your not updating it i wouldent ping G more then twice a month ofcoursee i like to place safe bets
