No. its enough that you submitted your sitemap to G and once your webpages are indexed then G will ultimately index the update in the webpage you have made.

Even I had created siteMap and submitted to Google long time back. How to find whether Google has index the update in the webpage I have made or not?

Set up a sitemap on your page and connect it to your home page and submit it to Google webmaster Tool.

When i update sites i do ping Google so Google knows I'm ready for an update and sure enough G comes and updates me like clockwork. I only ping if the updates are around a week apart i don't want to do a daily ping even if I'm updating daily Google can spank you for that. If your site has the traffic, quality fresh content and link infrastructure Google will visit you quite often on its own. I use gsite crawler and find it works very well.

I created the google site map july 8th total url's 364
indexed url's around 270 when google first downloaded the sitemap

google came back and downloaded it july 10th now 283 url's indexed
when i do site:domain.com there are 287 normally it was around 270
so this went up

just want to be sure the sitemap.xml as I add pages to my site it
will update by itself?

so then I can just resubmit it every so often if I don't see google
coming back

Hi Jeremy
Sitemap is always a big secret for a site. It can be in Google or Yahoo and so on.
So, you have already submitted sitemap to Google, that’s good. Now you want to add more pages. No it is not essential to resubmit if once yore site indexed by Google. But my suggestion if your site need more traffic it’s better to resubmit the sitemap once a month if your site frequently changes.
Take care

thank you Warriors the google xml sitemap has been helping

I want to ask this question again but more clearly worded.

I submitted a google xml sitemap 2 months ago which had 264 url's,
now google has indexed around 260 of them

my site has increased in the number of pages too around 300,

the google xml sitemap on my site, does it update by itself,

or do I need to create a new google xml sitemap and submit the new google xml sitemap to webmaster tools

thanks

it is an html site

having a google xml sitemap has made a big difference
in the number of pages of my site that have been indexed
increased by 100

probably all I need to do is create a new google xml sitemap
every time I add 30 to 50 pages and resubmit

by new I mean same filename, but it just has more url's included
