Lightbulb SEO with hubpages and squidoo

I have seen people here saying that they seo their new websites by writing about them on hubpages and squidoo. But as I checked them out, they both provide nofollow links. I wonder how that can be helpful in seo.

Anyone please help.

I am not sure about that..

Even if I gives you no backlink value, scoring a high pagerank with your squidoo lense for chosen keyword can provide good traffic on it's own.

For me personally, I don't leave links at NoFollow sites. I move my sites up organically - therefore, I stay away from such sites like Squidoo and Digg. If you want direct traffic - sure, these sites work. But if you concentrate on moving your sites up in the SERPs - stay away from them. They don't hurt you - but you are wasting your time.

Not sure where you got your info, but it's incorrect. Squidoo links are dofollow, and as an authority hub, can give you good backlink value. Hubpages provides similarly high backlink value, and if you follow their guidelines, your links will also be dofollow.

Don´t forget you can still get traffic from nofollow and of course Google is the only search engine that doesn´t give link juice for these links.

Was just going to clear up that confusion!

The backlinks from those web 2.0 sites are powerfull and grow more powerful overtime too... plus if they are non spammy and provide value then wont be deleted!

Squidoo links are dofollow if you put the link in your text module - all the other links, I believe, are no follow so if you put an rss feed or add a link list I don't think you get any juice from those.

With hubpages, to get a dofollow link your author score needs to be 75 or higher, and your actual hub score 50 or higher. Then the links will be do follow.

For your Squidoo lens to give you dofollow links, you need at least 3 modules. Read WIP Lenses for details.

Thanks a lot, you guys cleared my doubts... New users on both the sites will get nofollow links only.
