Hi all, Just want to get your opinion on this. I was doing some keyword research and I found a 4 word keyword phrase that, according to wordtracker, gets 3001 searches per day. But when I checked it on Google's Keyword tool, it shows a search volume of only 1,000 times per month. Which is more reliable to use? |

I would go with google. Also, did you use "exact" setting in google?... it may be even lower than 1000. |

Why not use both, I use 3 or 4 different keyword research tools for my research because not any of them are 100% accurate therefore if you use them all together you will get a much more accurate result if you average them all out that is. Also if you can't afford to pay for one or two accounts each month the use the free versions, they work good too. |

I did use both. But the results I got were very different. For the keyword I used, wordtracker tells me it gets 3001 searches per day, while Google keyword shows it get only 1,000 searches per month. Quote:

However I think its best, when this happens to go more for what Google says however I still wouldn't believe there results, as they are not always accurate either. When this happens just either look at the mean or take Google's answer as a more accurate result. | |

This problem happens alot and the only way to test it is to get those top rankings and seeing. You can also use the google insights tool to see if you can work it out, but the google tool is much more accurate than wordtracker because of its sources of results. Tom Brite |

If you compare numbers from various tools, you'll go nuts. The numbers are never the same. I use WT just to check the total demand of a niche (when I put in the seed word), after that I go with Google Adwords tool.In the end, if you create a large content website, you'll be found for 10,000 and more keywords so no need to waste too much time on optimizing for one or two keywords... |

Googles keyword tool is far more accurate than wordtrackers, when you consider the massive market share that they hold worldwide. There will be some regions where Google has a very low marketshare (less than 10-15%) where other tools may be just as accurate, however its hard to go past Googles tool in general for search volumes. i always use google.. the results seem slightly inflated though i usually cut them by about 25-35% and it becomes a bit more accurate

I use word tracker most times, I'm kind of used to their results though I'd really not totally believe the google keyword tool could be wrong, It may depend on how you search for your words.
