Default My Link Building Strategy – Google Love It!

I am into SEO for last 2 years and seen lot of up and downs as far as SERP is concerned. I had noticed some pattern and figure out why some websites ranks good compare to some websites that even have authority backlinks.

I would like to share my experience with you guys,

Following are some pointers, which can help you to build links effectively.

1) Analyze your top 3 competitors for a particular keyword phrase. Get an average backlink count of top 3 websites, what ever the backlink count is that many links you have to build in next four months for that particular site or page.( This doesn’t apply for highly competitive keyword phrases like “Weight Loss”, “Web hosting”, “Credit Repair” etc. you have to give a longer period of time for these)

2) At first start slow, use unique and informative articles to submit to top 5 articles directories.

3) Then do some 15 – 20 bookmarks in a month. Remember less is more when it comes to google.

4) Find some high traffic blogs and do some blog commenting, don’t hesitate to comment on nofollow blogs. These links do have weight for ranking as far as my experience is concerned. This is a bit controversial statement, but if you think rationally, when it comes to natural looking links it’s very much possible that you might have 10%-20% links, which come from nofollow page.

5) Then use Web.2.0. Sites like squidoo, wetpaint, hubpages etc. here you have to build in-content links. You can use the re-written version of your articles, which are submitted to article directories.

6) Then use Social Networking sites, leave a link at your profile page.
7) After creating Web2.0 Sites and Social Networking profile pages build couple links to these pages, it might be anything from social bookmaking to answer sites.

8) At this point you will find some traffic is coming to your site from google. Once you find some visitors are coming in from google, then start using niche specific forums and answer sites with useful posts.

9) Scale this campaign bigger as per your link building goal.
10) Start slowly for first month, increase speed in second and third month and for fourth month onward build slow but quality links.

For on keyword phrase I had successfully outranked 1,740,000 competitive pages and grabbed a solid 2 position in google with this link building technique. (Result for my best link building campaign so far)

Note: Do serious keyword research first before starting a link building campaign else it will waste your efforts.

Good advice Robert.

I have also notice that Google give priority to pages with lots of outgoing links. This shows authority and willingness to share links. Also IM'ers tend not to provide outgoing links in case it sends people away from a sales page - Google know that.

Thanks for the strategy, Robert! I've saved that little file for my next campaign.

The thing is that I'm probably way too lazy to do this kind of stuff and just end up paying for traffic viá AdWords. If I somehow get off my ass then this is the thing I'm going to do, so thanks for the detailed plan.

You know, I sometimes have the feeling that building traffic like that is an awful waste of time. I know that it works but just using PPC and then forget about the whole traffic-issue is a lot more appealing to me since I then can go back to content creation, copywriting, nurturing my list, etc.. On the other hand, I've seen pictures where people have been eye-tracked while using Google. The conclusion: There simply is no better place than the top 10 search results in Google. The sponsored links get clicked on by just a fraction.

Hmm, I'm still undecided about this... Anybody else on here who feels like their time is too valuable to play this whole SEO game?

Sorry Shettman, I'm not very into all this stuff right now, but as far as I know AdSense is for publishers and AdWords is for advertisers.

If you want to make some money with your website, register on Google AdSense and slap some ads onto your site.

If you want to advertise your site then register with Google AdWords and start a campaign (which Google AdSense users will then have on their sites).

Please correct me, fellow Warriors, if I'm wrong...

This strategy can be very use full for those who are adword savvy, You know what keywords converts for you and what not.
Focusing on exact long tail keyword which converts can change the game of ROI.

I had used this technique for some sandboxed websites and it works like wonder, only thing you need is, a faith in what you are doing and being consistent.

The problem with building links extremely fast is Google devalues many links (depending on the age of the domain and website). I have seen this with my own eyes so I know this is true. Of course your site won't get penalised but many of the links will get devalued, resulting in a waste of time and effort

Google favors two types of sites, authority sites and hub sites. A hub site is a site that has a lot of quality, relevant links.

I've always been a little surprised at how little attention hub sites have gotten from IMers over the years, as compared to how much they love to say "authority! Authority!". I built my FatBomb SE years ago in order to create hub sites, but it doesn't seem like many other IMers/SEOers have jumped on the hub site bandwagon like they have with authority sites.

A must read advice for those seeking more information regarding link building.

I myself apply the tips in my websites and i find it pretty effective. SEO is long process but its worth it in the long run.

When you are planing to achieve ranking in four to five months, only build 5%-7% of links at first month.

Why SLOW?
Basically, if you build link fast at the start you will sudden your page will be vansh from the search result.

Why is LESS More?
According to my experience, at start less is more. If you build links fast soon you will see your site in sandbox.

Building natural looking links it the important element of link building.

Most of the high traffic blogs are no follow so don't need to find it either, just comment on high traffic relevant blogs and you will be fine.

Hi robert25,

Are you sure about this? How do you differentiate the effect of QDF from your link building activities? Wouldn't the QDF factor cause this exact pattern and account for the result you see? How do you isolate and attribute this totally to your link building activities?

It is my understanding that the only thing that is likely to happen if you build backlinks too fast is that you will attract the attention of the search engine spamdexing teams. If you are using some sort of automated spamming technique this human review is likely to spot this and devalue those links. If all your backlinks are relevant and not spammy you aren't likely to suffer from a human review.

So if you are using an automated spamdexing tool you will need to go slow to "fly under the radar". However, if you are creating quality backlinks I see no reason why you would want to throttle your efforts.

If all your backlinks are relevant and not spammy you aren't likely to suffer from a human review.

So if you are using an automated spamdexing tool you will need to go slow to "fly under the radar". However, if you are creating quality backlinks I see no reason why you would want to throttle your efforts.
I don't agree with this at all, there are millions of long tail keywords which is hit by thousands of surfers on daily basis. Its not possible to review every site which builds link fast or suspiciously.

This is because, google is always ready to introduce new tools and overtaking web entities like urchin, youtube, feedburner the list goes on, the major objective behind this is to collect valuable data of search pattern, site performance and automating the process of detecting suspicious link building activity.

Hi robert25,

Yes, they do use tools that detect suspicious link building activity, I agree with that. I'm just saying they do have a large spamdexing team that reviews those sites that reach extremely high levels. Some of their training material has leaked onto the internet in the past and you can see in their filings that they in fact do employ many people for this job.

It's only when your spamdexing activity reaches a very high level that your are likely to trigger a human review. It most often occurs when someone uses automated tools because it's so easy to get carried away with the power of such tools.

What else do all those human reviewers do in the spamdexing team if they are not reviewing suspicious link building activity? A human reviewer does not need to view every site, all they need is a tool that displays a random sampling and they can scan those results in seconds and make a decision.

My first site is more of a hobby site than a big money maker. I let the links in to it build on their own.

My second site, which I'm just starting, is an income-generator, so I'll be following your suggestions for link-building.

Thanks for the tips.

The main advantage of this "SEO game" is that you play the game only once. It might take 6 months or a year but once your site becomes an authority on the topic, it will rank all the time well without any need to build links any more.

Just adding an article per week - which can take 5 or 20 minutes - is all the work that's needed. And the site just keeps earning and earning...
