Getting Websites Listed in Local Search Results?

Hi Warriors,

Does anyone know how to submit a company website to Google Maps and get the site listed in local search results?

Here's an example.

victorville dentists - Google Search

What's the fastest, most effective way to get a website listed in a-j of the local listings in Google?

Also, how long will it take for a business site to be noticed in a local listing, such as this and what determines which businesses shows up?

Here is the link to add a local business to Google: http://www.google.com/local/add

From there, the company can add logos, pictures of products or people, videos, coupons, hours of operation, and a google map to their location(s), as well as a link to their site. After this information is added, Google then calls the company for verification.

What determines the local search results involves the same thing as ranking in the search engines for any search term - having a good website with good content, and backlinks.

I think you are targetting google.com as you are in TX, USA. Am I right? Then try to get more backlinks from '.com' domains. I am sure there are huge..... Getting backlinks will be bring you to top on google

follow the link in Linda's post / add business - fill in all the information and submit -when done Google will send a verification code by sms /email/postcard - yep postcard to the phone no./address in the listing - once you verify the listing - it's live.
I have done the above - gone to search and seen the listing in maps ... cool

OBTW - the tags in the submission are important - if you want to have the dentist show up for "teeth whitening 'suburb' " put teeth whitening in the tags in submission - and also on the website

I've submitted my sites to Google Local Business Center. Works great, now my site comes up #1 with a little map, address, and link when you type in the name. Took some time for the map part to show up, but well worth the effort.
