Okay Warriors check out this scenario... Let's say you purchase a domain name and build a website, even if the website isn't indexed yet would it still be worth investing your time building back links for that site? What will happen when the site is finally indexed? Will doing this speed up the process? Will it get credited rank for all the back links built for it even though it doesn't exist yet on Google or is this a waste of time?? Any advice on this? THANKS! |

Without building backlinks, how would your site get indexed? Don't wait on Google to find it via submission, tell it to find your site the right way. The Yahoo Answers method is good, but so is Digg (the backlink might not be worth anything, but it's good for indexing anyways).

Dealxlrated Hey thanks for the tip, but I'm not concerned about getting indexed or anything like that... I'm thinking of promoting an upcoming launch in one week, so i'm questioning how beneficial it would be to get a keyword related domain to the product and try to get some backlinking for it to get it ranked before the launch. Just wanted to hear some advice from people who are experienced with SEO. But THANKS for the tip! |

It is good to have back links when you get indexed . If you have optimized the site to a good long tail you could easily rank #1 upon being indexed .

Why would you want to wait on building backlinks? backlinks are what make a site rank high, just do a search for 'click here' in google and you will see adobe.com is top. That top position for 'click here' is all due to backlinks. Plus building backlinks will mean your site gets indexed alot faster. Make sure you ping it too (pingomatic.com will do) then it informs the search engines that your site exists and tells them to crawl it. Get building those all important backlinks now ![]() Tom Brite

How do you expect the site to get indexed if you DONT build backlinks? Google is very smart, I'll grant that, but if you don't tell google about your site -- through backlinks -- then it won't *ever* get indexed. Quote:

This was a question on building backlinks for a site that wasn't built yet and if those backlinks will help when the site does get indexed. Thanks for the tips and advice everyone, much appreciated.

OK sorry for misunderstanding. I thought your site was already built and you wanted to know if to wait with starting to create backlinks until G indexes it. As Tom Brite and others have said, intermix link creation and work on the site construction itself. That way you'll have some backlinks when the site is all ready to go. The only reason for not doing it is if the site should be secret until its launch. In that case I'd also put a robots.txt that prevents the search engines from crawling and indexing your site until you're ready. |

| Gold Nuggets Producer War Room Member | By having a link to the site appear on a big authority site like answers.yahoo.com, you can ensure that the search engines will notice its existence quicker; that's the gist of the strategy here.

If your site is still not indexed even after getting in huge links then it is sure that you are not getting quality links. Alternate - Submit a sitemap of your website to search engines. |

Actually, by getting backlinks only I used to get my site indexed by google. So, getting backlinks will not do any harm, it is useful to get more traffic. I am sure about it |

I personally have always had my sites indexed within 48 hours of putting them online: 1. Submit URL to Google 2. Google webmaster tools account and submit sitemap 3. Start a blogger log and do a few posts with links to your site That is usually enough to get Google sniffing in 48 hours, then I get on with constantly building one way backlinks to my content pages. |

To answer your question in short. Yes, you need back links to get your site indexed fast. hopes that help. Nope iblbuilder, you don't need to submit your site to Google. If you get backlinks from other site, Google will find its way to index your site automatically.. I have build more than 10+ sites and I never ever submit them to Google apart from first site that I ever built! |

Buildin backlinks for a new site will do no harm to your new site. However you should take care not to build too many of the backlinks that can cause alarm with google crawlers since this is a new site.
