I built a lot of back links for a very competitive kw and got it to second page of google. I just checked and it is buried deep on the 11th page. Should I stop promoting it for now or keep going? I am not sure if it was penalized for building back links too quickly, I did around 30 a day for a week. Thanks in advance Sam |

Hi Sam, A week is not a very long time for a SEO campaign. As your pages and links age they earn more trust and will help your rankings. You won't see the full benefit of that effort for months. You said it was a competitive keyword, you can't expect to overtake a competitive keyword with merely one week of effort. I suspect you knew this going in and probably got discouraged when you saw your ranking drop. Don't worry about the drop, you are just seeing the natural effect of Google's freshness factor which wears off rather quickly. It's not an indication that you are doing anything wrong. Keep you chin up and keep going. |

Feel free Sam and I can take a look for you.. Don, is also right as well, it is early days in your efforts. You should however be slightly more immune from the usual Google fluctuations with an aged domain. |
