How helpful is social bookmarking articles in terms of the ranking of the site promoted?

When I submit an article, in my author bio on EZA etc I have an anchor link to the site I'm promoting with the main keywords I use for the actual site. I then bookmark the article with some of the top SB sites(Delicious, Reddit, Propeller, Digg etc). I'm just wondering how effective this is in terms of boosting my SE ranking for the site itself?

No one can actually tell you that

what you need to do is monitor your results in Google, then the results will tell you what you want to know,

not everything shows up all at once in Google but over time it will and then you will know they are being counted

Only a little. Many social bookmarking sites are "no follow" links right now. This means that they carry very little juice with the search engines.

Your best bet is to blog comment and such using your article as the link and your name as the anchor text. Not only will you get additional traffic, but you'll build valuable links.

If you want to social bookmark, check out socialmarker.com. Then click on "do follow" and it'll give you a list of the sites that provide you with a backlink.

If you havn't already submitted your authors RSS feed to the RSS sites, be sure to do that ASAP.

If you really want to increase your visibility in Search Engine then you must do Link Building.

I probably should have explained myself better, for the site in question I am already building a lot of backlinks(including Angela and Paul's packets) and bookmarking my articles with a link to the site is in addition to this. I was just wondering how powerful it was in terms of google indexing the article and picking up my link/keywords from both the article and the bio boxes.

Social Bookmarking like other methods can bring lot of traffic if you use it wisely.
The best way to prove it is to test the result on Google.
Every backlink methods have its own benefits and i am sure social bookmark also.
