Yahoo and Microsoft announced a deal today that the two companies say will give advertisers and users a strong alternative to the dominant Internet search company, Google. Under terms of the agreement, Yahoo will use Microsoft's recently introduced search engine, "Bing," on its Web sites, while Yahoo will take over selling premium search advertising for both companies around the world. Hopefully, this will create some opportunities for us. They might come up with something like adsense.

Now we have a strong number 2 instead of two weak number 2 and 3. I think this is good news for both advertisers and consumers.

Microsoft isn't exactly interested in small business. Have they ever really cared about affiliate marketers? This leaves 2 players. Competition is good, but this thing still has to clear legal hurdles and it's going to be many months to years down the road before the switch is flipped. So much for Yahoo. They look like they are quickly becoming the next AOL. |

I don't get it yet really. So no more Microsoft AdCenter and all my bing marketing will be controlled in yahoo search marketings interface? So long as my ads are still seen by the people who use yahoo i'm happy... ... yahoo has been 1000% more profitable compared to Bing for me |

Would it be because the combination of Yahoo and MSN's PPC offerings would now equal nearly half of Google 's Adwords?! Or perhaps it's because Google has more lobbyist in D.C. then these two companies combined? | |
