GOOGLE SLAP HAS BEGUN

if you're not aware, google, msn and yahoo are teaminig up with the US goverment to slam down all review based sites.

Luckily only about 5 my review sites QS went down to 1 from 8 or 9.

It seems that the life of review sites is probably coming to an end.
This means you will need to build solid sites with at least 30 pages of content - of high value.

Where did you find the information that says all sites need to have 30 pages of content?

Hey all,

Read this the other day...

Google Slap for Product Review Sites

As a newbie, i must say this does suck. Just spent two months learning how to develop a good review site.

Any comments or ideas?

That's why i always, always say...never put clickbank/CPA etc. links on a page, always cloak or go via redirect.

I started noticing on my sites a week or so ago.

I'm pretty sure it's not against review sites but against flog sites and non-legitimate stuff.

The fact of a slap on review sites for PPC marketers is not that new. It's been out for a few weeks and there are many threads on this forum talking about it.

What would be new is that this includes natural search results and dropping all review sites and their rankings. I have not seen anything on that or needing to have a minimum of a 30 page site as well. The facts are important here and not just what someone writes on a blog or in a forum. If you have more information and a link to something put out officially by Google I'd really appreciate seeing it because it would be most helpful.

None of my review sites have been slapped whatsoever.

If they are slapping the poor review sites - I'm all for it.

The problem is that when a method is found to work - and the word spreads - it isn't just overused, it's abused.

Google has done slaps in the past aiming at various overused strategies and that won't change. The govt involvement is due to abuse and misinformation being given on some review sites - fake testimonials, over-the-top claims, etc.

It may go too far at first but making adjustments to quality review sites once we know what is and is not a target should bring some sites back into play. Eliminating some of the trash posting as "review sites" could end up helping good site owners in the end.

What's the status on Legit Review sites? The kind where dozens of people write independent reviews each and every day on dozens(hundreds) of different products?

I've got two sites like this that are gaining traction...it would be a huge problem if they dropped for no reason.

I don't have a review site but did a product review on one of my sites but it is not showing up on google ( used to be page 1 and 2 for 2 keywords) for some time now.

I cant say much for review sites because we have launched many lately and they are rising in the search engine.

I do know for a fact that they are hitting those promoting offers that some would consider illegal.
