Default How Long Do You Wait to Put Adsense on New Site

Hello, all you adsense fanatics out there. I am just getting into adsense properly and I have seen a lot of contradicting information on it.

One of the things that seems to divide opinion is how long to wait until you put your adsense code up.

Some say wait a while and others say just put it up straight away.

I would be interested in hearing what others do that do adsense day in day out.

Cheers

Thanks Maxmed - I don't want to wait. I would prefer to put it up from day one since I normally start off a site with at least 5 articles on it from day one, then I drip feed articles in from there.

I would prefer to be making money straight away, but I was just wondering about the theory behind why I read about so many people who don't believe in putting the adsense up straight away. Is there evidence to show that google don't like this?

Carlton, I think the waiting thing is a Myth. When I joined 16 months ago I put it straight away on my Site with NO Problems. Now I usually do wait a few weeks just to get my planning and what not in place. But as far as being penalized or banned by Google for putting it up to quick and making it seem like a MFA site, I say hogwash !

I generally recycle ad units from other sites until a new site merits its own ad units and have a few "test sites" with every adsense unit I use live on them for that purpose. There's a number of advantages to that approach

If your visitors won't be offended by the presence of adsense ads (I imagine they won't), why wait? What's your alternative? Either empty space and lost revenues, or having to rework your site's layout in the future.

You need to wait until the site is fully operational, not under construction, per Google's guidelines. You'll also want to have keyword relevant content in place to help insure that you will show the right ads and not junky generic ads or worse, PSA's.

In my own testing, I haven't seen any difference in indexing times or search rankings from having or not having Adsense at launch time. I do prefer to wait until the site is indexed and getting decent search traffic on the target keywords before placing Adsense. This helps me spot any potential problems or make adjustments I might need to make to the content or site design.

Google would usually approve a site only if there is some content. Once it is approved, you can start to put the codes on it but if I were you, I won't. It's a waste of time. Put adsense on a site that is not new and has some decent traffic. But if this is the only site, then leave it and start building lots of content.

Thanks everyone,

I really appreciate the input and clarifying things for me. As I mentioned I always have at least 5 pages of content up from day one. These are all keyword focused pages that should bring in the right ads.

ChrisBa, thanks for reminding me. Because I am fairly new to really trying to monetize with adsense, it would be easy to forget this one, even though I gone through training courses that try to drum it into my head, in the excitement of the moment, it can be forgotten.

Many thanks again.
