Arrow Why do High Paying Keywords Pay me LITTLE?

I have a website with high paying keyword theme (around $3-5 per click), however the clicks I've got so far are around $0.05-0.07 per click.

Can anyone tell me why?

The $3-$5 that you speak about are the cost per click for the advertiser for positions 1-3.

In addition the higher the CTR the higher you'll get paid, the more traffic you have the more money you'll generate, the sources of the traffic are important as well, how long the reader is on your site is important and the relevancy of the sources of your traffic to the clicked ads are important.

I hope that these reasons made it a bit clearer for you.

What is the history of the site? If your traffic is from low quality sources or you've been consistently performing sub-par you may need to look into "smart pricing". Could be the culprit.

Because Google doesn't always show the highest priced ads on your site. I have a site that is dedicated to keywords that have bid prices of over $30.00 per click and sometimes the amount I receive for each CTR varies wildly. Remember that the advertiser can limit where his ads are shown as well.

There are a number of factors involved. In my experience, however, longevity in the Adsense program and consistency of sticking with the same keywords on your targeted sites means increased click-through prices to you in the long run.

The keyword tool is meant for the search network. The value of a click given is an estimate to get in positions 1-3 on Google's search engine based on all advertisers for that keyword. Good advertisers can easily get much lower prices for those positions, sometimes by half. It doesn't translate well to the content network. As others have mentioned, your site may not get the highest priced ads for a variety of reasons. And then you only get a certain percentage of that click's value, you didn't expect Google to give you the full $3, did you? Are all ads shown on your site related to the keyword you optimized for?

So our consistency of sticking with the same keywords on my targeted sites influences our click-through prices? Do you think that this could be the REAL REASON why since I stupidly made ONE off topic post 3 weeks ago I started to get very low CPC? Before that I used to get higher CPC (around $1 per click). However I've deleted that off topic post last week, but I still get very low CPC, so what do you think I should do to get my high CPC as I used to have?

Thank you so much for your valuable answer, and also to all contributors:-)

Yes, my site is actually related to high paying keywords, and BEFORE I made that one stupid off topic post, I used to get $1 per click. Now I get only $0.05-0.06 per click. Can anyone please kindly tell me how I can get my high CPC back?

Concentrate on driving targeted traffic. Targeted traffic will increase your CTR so the smart pricing will actually "pay" you higher $ per click.
