Hi all, I see a lot of threads here on autoblog type content generation and I am curious whether there's been any sort of testing or data to verify whether that kind of duplicate content would lead to a reduction of Google page trust and an eventual deindexing of your page. I've got some domains I bought a couple years back that I havent done anything with them and thought an autoblog might be the ticket. Appreciate the info. -Whitey |

Well, first...dup content referrs to your own site. Which means, for a blog, if you create a post and tag it to show up multiple times in different categories or pages you would have created duplicate content. That would be one instance of how dup content will effect you. Autoblogging uses rss feeds to keep your blog up to date with current information. They are also referred to as meshup's. CNN is a meshup. News Media is a meshup. Wall Street Journal is a meshup and so are just about every other news channel in the country. They use reuters.com and pluck.com to supply thier content. Now...knowing that to be true, you would have to agree that if using your theroy as fact, they would be penalized by Google for dup content. I don't see even Google being big enough to penalize and take down the news media across the board. The duplicate content theroy just does not make sense. |

Appreciate the response. If I set up a blog with a "feature" page that displays an rss feed and also have other sections which display the same data (like an archived posts section) would that be considered duplicate content? I've got some decent one and two word domains which I've had forever but somebody once warned me to not just throw anything on them because Google bans are difficult to overcome. Maybe I'm reading too much into that but I was hoping for some data or info which could explain all that. Also does the duplicate content penalty only apply to the same domain or even the same IP? Thanks |

I agree that it is hard to overcome a ban by Google...but staring in the same face...it is just as hard to get banned in the first place. Extreme stupidity is about the only thing that will get Google to turn face on you. Just start your blog with a purpose for being created in the first place. You'll be fine. Quote:
It Only applies to the same Domain. | |||
