Default How to Optimize a Blog for a Specific Keyword Phrase

I have a pretty solid keyword phrase for my blog, it is the title of my blog as well as the url without spaces. I would like to optimize for this keyword phrase so that I can rank in Google, how do I go about this?

Hi Kappa,

You should also aim to mention your keyword phrase in various places on the home page of your blog e.g. perhaps within the side bar area, the header and the footer. Also in the alt attributes of one or two of the images. Plus in the meta description and in an H1 tag.

As well as aiming for a specific keyword for your home page it is also worth optimizing individual blog posts as you make them for DIFFERENT keyword phrases. If you choose low competition phrases for each of your blog posts and mention the keyword phrase in the blog post title and 2-3 times within the blog post you should be able to increase your traffic gradually over time.

I have a free series on my SEO blog that is specifically about optimizing blogs:

Cheers,
Suzanne

Good points all around. The title tag is also key. And, of course, perhaps the best thing you can do to raise your organic ranking is to keep up on regular and relevant content additions.

Thank you for the help, my primary keyword is a common misunderstanding of the name of the product, I can actually compete with that name and not the name of the real product. Like, a lot of people would think "Everybody Loves Raymond" is "Everyone loves raymond" and search for the second phrase. So riddling my posts with my keyword would be kind of awkward, but I could try to do it, we'll see. I will be reading your posts, I really appreciate the help.
