I am the webmaster of a PR7 website and I was contacted by a company who wishes to place their link on this website. How much should I expect to receive whether it be lifetime or monthly? I also heard companies pay a LOT for backlinks since they have the budget for it, so I was wondering if someone knew how much I could push out of them? This particular company is an ad network too.

Hi andywang, The price you can get varies based on how much traffic the page receives and how targeted your traffic is for the buyer. Don't forget to put a nofollow on the link unless you are vouching for the website you are linking to. |

How much would be a reasonable offer? My website obtains a very high volume of taffiic but I don't think it's relevant to this company. They just want a high quality backlink with relevant content.

It depends on your PR and domain age as well. $150 for a year isn't very much at all for a text link in that industry if you have a decent PR and have been around for a short time plus the traffic. I would have gone with $250-$500 if you have what I said above. I know people who have PR5 and above with a domain age of a year and charge $40 a month for an entertainment niche.

This same company is currently paying me $35/month for my other website which is PR4 and close to 3 years old. I just don't want to get ripped off by letting them have a backlink for less than what I could be getting it for.

Hi andywang, All your telling us about your website is that it's PR 7. You can't really value a link based solely on PR. The traffic is key in valuing a paid link. Tell us specific information about your traffic and what type of site you will be linking to. |

Whether you like it or not, virtually all link brokers price links according to PR, that is unless you put a no-follow tag. In that case, it would depend on the traffic and the niche. I would suggest a reference price of $50-150 per month depending on your niche, quality of backlinks to your site, and the number of outbound links from your site. I would think carefullly before you decide to sell links because it could lead to Google penalizing your site. You could lose both SERPS or PR. Ideally, you should put in a no follow tag but I do not think that is what your advertiser wants. Derek |

It depends on the niche, if there is already traffic, if that domains makes money as a parked page and age.

| This is what has stopped me from selling links. I've been approached by other sites offering money to put a link up for them, but I've always said no since I'm not sure what sort of damage it might cause in the long run.

As with any other business, you should check the market. Look at sites like Adhoc Ads and see what other sites charge, check out each of the sites so you get a feel for what kind content and other types of ads they have and compare it to how much they charge. Often you can find the site's PR, price, placement of the link and how many outbound links are on the page. (Usually the lower outbound links, the higher the price.) Hope this helps. Cindy P. | |

They should be worth something significant however there are many other variables that you should remember to take into account, for example if it's relevant to your niche etc.

I have seen PR7 links sold for thousands on a monthly basis, However as many of the members mentioned it can depend on many things. Hopefully it is not a recently dropped domain with old PR.

It depends on the PR (since your PR is 7 then it would cost more), domain age, and we'll also take into consideration the compatibility of your site's niche to the client's niche.
