Hi Warriors! What is really the truth? Let’s get this backlink question answered once and for all! I would appreciate it if anyone can answer the following question for the benefit of all warriors on this forum: With regards to getting back links… is it better to submit the SAME article to many article directories or is it better to spin it and submit DIFFERENT versions of an article to several article directories? What has been your experience? Do you get the same quality of back links from submitting the same article to different article directories? Does it really matter if the articles are rewritten and submitted as unique copies before submission to the directories? Does Google, Yahoo and the other search engines count the back links coming from the same article on different article directories? I’m asking this question because sometimes you hear people saying Google disregards back links from the same article posted on different article directories. And other times, you hear other people saying it doesn’t really matter as long as the articles are placed on different websites. So, what is really true? Have you noticed the search engines counting all your back links even when it’s from the same article on different article directories? |

Google will count your backlinks, but the amount of "juice" that flows out from those links might be a little down. You really have to break down what makes a page different, because it's not just the content. Each of those article directories have different page structures and elements on the page that contribute to making each page unique. Some pull feeds/snippets of other articles on the page... That could make your duplicant content 'unique'. Or what about the ones that allow comments...those could contribute to the content becoming unique. In my opinion, just submitting to article directories isn't going to be an effective strategy BY ITSELF to get sufficient rankings for your business. You need a totality approach to link building, with article directory submissions as just one leg of it. |

I do not know the answer to this question. But I do know what I think - for what its worth!? I write an article and post it to EA first. Then I change the headlines and some text and post the second version everywhere else I can think of. Then I Concentrate on writing for my own websites. I am convinced that backlinks are the only reason for using article directories. It has little to do with providing good info. Read some of the articles there to see this. What you must make sure is that the content on your own internet real estate is completely unique and of top quality. The more unique and detailed the better. I concentrate on getting visitors direct to my websites rather than through an article directory. I still can't believe that the directories allow so much rubbish in their content. It must be the adsense income that keeps them allowing it. |

If you want to know if a backlink is being counted by a search engine all you have to do is cut and paste the full url of the article into the search field. If the URL appears then it's counted. Backlinks are exclusive of content. You get the same "credit" from an article whether it is unique or not. What matters is if it gets indexed. |

Thanks, Ken. This clears something up for me. I have been a strong advocate of unique content but know some other marketers who are copying to their blogs such a lot and think it's okay for the search engines. I knew I had read somewhere that unique content was a must and your post supports that theory. Enjoy the journey. Mandy |
