S.E.O. Where to start

I have tried learning about S.E.O. and have learned a variety of techniques. I keep coming around to one question. Where Do You Start and what is worth doing?

The reason I ask this is everywhere you look people are contradicting each other. some say do this, some say do that. Some say don't do this, some say don't do that.

So now I have a bunch of techniques wondering have I wasted my time or not. What recomendations do people have?

SEO is not rocket science.

Here are a couple of tips.

- Make sure the keyword you are targeting is going to be in the url.
- Make sure you use the Google Keyword tool to find low competition keywords
- Make sure you use exact match on the keyword tool
- Use the allintitle search to check the competition

Then - add content!

It can be quite confusing, but you have to stick with one technique. Don't try to do too many things at the same time. Stick with something and see if you're getting the desired results or not. That's the best way to learn what works or not.

The first step is to choose the most relevant keywords which you believe you target audience will search for. Keywords are terms that search engine users type in the search box to conduct a query. Only the right keywords describe the purpose and content of your website. This helps in showing your site as near to first page results as possible.

I agree with Gary. SEO is not rocket science, but it does take time.

Most SEO professionals insist on a minimum 3 month commitment, and often longer depending on the clients expectations. Why? Because it takes time to build the links, content and respect necessary to get a site to page one.

I suspect you're already doing what's required, but perhaps have an unrealistic expectation in terms of the time involved. The odds of my suspicions being right go up if you have a new site and domain, and are competing for heavily contested keywords.

I am new to this a certainly don't know everything. I am trying to optimize my blog, and the first thing I did after making sure my keyword phrase was part of the url, meta tags, etc. was purchase Angela and Paul's backlinks, and begin that process. It is a good solid start, and I am #1 in Google for my keyword without spaces, which gives me some solid traffic. I am actively working on my keyword with spaces. Not to contradict anyone who is seasoned veteran of this process.

Keywords come first. 1.) Use the Google Keyword Tool to find targeted keywords in your niche. 2.) Optimize your site or blog with those keywords. 3.) Get backlinks to your site or blog with very targeted keywords. Keep it simple!

i had one ebook called SEO Bible by Jarry L Ledford, i had purchsed it from a site, i have used it to acquire whatever little knowledge i have on SEO, now i see that this ebook is freely also available on internet, why dont you download it. is is really one of the best books i have come across.

First place to start is home

Where are you going to live
where do all your visitors/customers live
Then search google according to that TLD on the keywords simalar
right down the results for those keywords
start to look at a name that you think will sirt in nicely witht he most targetted keywords

DEPENDING on the site your going for this will take some time, dont beat around the bush with this at all. It really will help you in the ling run. can have the impact on why you dont rank in alexa for 6 months, rank but are placed at 12 million + for 6 months plus or why you launch at 12 million and drop to under a million under a 3 month span before doing any form of linkbuilding or even site pinging
