Default building authority page - url strategy

Hi everyone,

I thought about review pages and whether it makes more sense to build single web 2.0 properties like squidoo for every product review or build an authority website. I think an authority website would bring real long term benefits.

My question is, since I have read a lot that in terms of SEO it is best to have a keyword rich URL, would I setup my main url and then setup urls, that redirect to the actual review? I also read that google doesn't like redirects in terms of SEO - true? Or is it efficient enough to build an seo friendly link structure like mainurl.com/product-x-review/ ?

Thanks,

Gerd

The way I understand it, your url needs to be KeyWordRich.com/NextKeyword.htm

And on and on like that, replacing next keyword with third keyword and then fourth keyword. If I am understanding your question correctly.

I am not understanding why you mentioned redirects. Maybe I missed the point of your question.

@timpears

well the point is let's say I want not only setup my review page but also brand it. Let's say therefore I chose the domain review-my-brand.com

Now every review (I use wordpress) would have the URL
review-my-brand.com/product1-review

Instead my question was whether it is better to buy a top level domain likr
product1-review.com and redirect it to review-my-brand.com/product1-review

Then we have the redirect problem or not. As I understand it google doesn't rank redirects because it's it could eb used as kind of deceiptive strategy. But maybe there is a right way to do it.
