Great, here we go again.

Caffeine: Google’s New Search Index

Google is changing up there algorithim again and this time they are letting everyone test it out first.

You can test your keywords at Google and get a basic idea of how you are going to rank once they make the changes.

They are saying that page rank may be a thing of the past.

There will no doubt me work to do. No rest for the wicked I suppose.

that's great if it's true. I tried mine and a good amount of my sites moved up in the SERP's

I'm sure they know what they're doing. It'll be a change for the better, and they've got to stay ahead of the Yahoo/Bing alliance now haven't they ...

I did a quick check and 9 out of 10 of my keywords and results actually improved a little. But one is totally gone. Typical Google. The one that disappeared was the newest website.

Did you notice the difference in totals of websites? The numbers show about 1/3 of the number of responses for every search I did.

For example in the current engine search the total number of websites came up with 16 million, in the test one it only returned 4 million.

I'd take the test one with a grain of salt. It may be a subset of websites, not the whole current index. And who knows what will change when it's actually implemented.

I do know that when they did the last big change the index danced for a couple of weeks before it settled down.
