Default "Dofollow" back links and Article Directories - Will they last???

Anyone interested in predicting the future of DoFollow Article directories??? Just wondering if there's been any rumblings to whether the big article directories are going to follow in Digg.com's footsteps and take off backlinks.

Any thoughts??

Hi Beau

It's possible, but I also think article directories have to be a bit more careful about pleasing their user base, because there is a lot more competition. After all, if enough people get sick of Article Directory A, they can simply move on to Article Directory B.

EzineArticles.com seems to be top at the moment, but they know that could change. If they went nofollow they risk a lot of users taking their content elsewhere, and/or not bothering to submit there any more.

On the other hand, EZE can send a decent volume of real traffic to a site, so whether people would actually stop using them is debatable.

Short answer: yes, they will last. Of course it's possible that this directory or that directory would change their policy on anything from dofollow to whatever else you can think of. But since article directories are fueled in large part by people that are submitting content merely for the backlink, it wouldn't be in their best interest to do so. Plus, as someone else mentioned, there will always be a different directory to turn your attention to if that does happen.
