Default Okay, stupid question about adwords.

I have set up my very first Adwords campaign with Google.

Now, I am the number one result for my keyword. When you search my keyword, I'm at the top of the list under "Sponsored Results". I ALWAYS thought sponsored results were something else!! How do I get my website listed within the actual list of results?

Is this possible? Or does the bidding on these keywords on count toward appearing under the 'sponsored results'?

To be a bit more clear since I have a hard time explaining myself, here is a pic..

Now, my ad appears #1 within the BLUE bracket.

How do I get my ad within the RED bracket? Because, in my opinion, that is where everyone is looking.

And lastly, how do you get within the PURPLE bracket?

(And no, my keyword isn't insurance!)

One last thing, how can I see what the top spot is bidding for a certain keyword?!

Sorry for all the rookie questions and thanks for any help!

I'm a secret Hannah Montana fan.

It's not a stupid question at all. Sponsored results are adword results based on a variety of factors (price and quality score being two of them). This is where testing conversions is critical. Sometimes being in the #1 spot is really good, but sometimes being in the #3 spot has a better conversion rate. To get into the "blue" section you can simply go into your account and specify that you want only want to get ranked in a certain place (such as a range like 3-8) and also adjust the price per click to get the ranking you want. Same goes with the "purple" bracket.

To get into the red bracket you have to study SEO / SEM since those are natural, non-sponsored results.

As a side note: if you are asking questions like these you would do yourself a HUGE favor by getting Perry Marshalls adwords guide or additional PPC training from a qualified mentor regarding adwords.

The area you call the red bracket are the SERPs: Search Engine Result Pages. To get there, Google needs to crawl (read your page) and index it. The position you show up depends on how Google (or any other search engine for that matter) decides how to rank each site for the keywords used as a search term.

Your pink and blue brackets are the sponsored results. These are ads that show up depending on the keywords you bid on. Google shows 8 ads on the right ("blue bracket") side of the page. It can also show up to three ads above the SERPs, the "pink bracket". There are a few conditions that must be met to get there.

To get listed on RED area (as per your pic), you have to get more backlinks and make sure you are fine with ONSITE SEO too, for those, you can browse many other threads under this category of WF forum here to get more ideas
