Ok... which is accurate? SEO Book Keyword Tool or Google AdWords Keyword Tool? SEO Book says a term gets 16 daily searches, Google AdWords tool says the same term gets 40,000 monthly searches. I went after a term before that I got from SEO Book KW tool and made it to the #2 spot. The page didn't exactly get much traffic... Turns out another tool said there wasn't even close to the same search volume for the term. ? |

Jason, I think all keyword tools have faults but the adwords external tool is the most accurate in my opinion. Another quick way to determine demand is to set up an exact match adwords campaign. I used to use premium wordtracker but it's very inaccurate regarding search demand. |

Jason. When using the google tool did you set it to exact search to arrive at the 40000 figure our was it on broad. This is a common mistake i see when people are comparing the two tools. SEO book is using the exact phrase and google is by default set to broad match.

| Ok. just checking. Yeah. In the end all of these tools are just educated guesses. I tend to stay with Google's tool because they should know their own searches but, eventually you just have to make a choice on your own and stick to it.

I always use google tool and once I get top, I am getting more success. I really wonder on your case, However, if you can try out some other marketing ways that SEO, you can get success.. like twitter/facebook etc...

They are both inaccurate, especially SEO Book's. Your better off using Adwords keyword tool and knocking off 15-20% of the traffic.

SIce google has 68% of the search engine market, my tests have shown that the google keyword tool has somewhat accurate stats on the search volume. Here is a technique i've been using for a while and I believe someone mentioned this trick a while back. To really find out the search volume for certain keywords, setup a campaign but MAKE SURE the Ad has NOTHING to do with the keyword. So for example if your keyword is for Dog Training, then create an Ad for Green Icecream of something like that. Set your CPC really high like $2.00 or more. What will happen is that Google will show your Ad since your CPC is high, but you will not get any clicks. However you will get the number of impressions! Run this Campaign for about a month and you'll get REALLY accurate search volume data. Hope that helps... DZ |
