What I am trying to achieve, barriers, Acai Berries, SEO vs Adwords!?

Hi basically I am fairly new to affiliate marketing. Heres what I am wanting to achieve:

1. I want to only affiliate to other peoples products only as I have not made my own yet.
2. I only want to get traffic to my website where I want to convert to sales straight away. I don't want or care FOR NOW about making my site interesting so they come back, I don't want or care FOR NOW about having a mailing list etc etc. I am simply aiming for a simple site that gets them clicking through my affiliate link quickly through 'big' call to action banners and graphics (I have heard they have been proven to get better click through links than sales pages anyway)
3. I am aiming to make sites/webpages, drive traffic to them and then leave them to convert sales without having to do any more site maintenance, having to answer questions, put interesting content and articles that I would have to if i had my own products etc etc. I guess what I am trying to say is that I am trying to keep things simple, make money quickly (get my business going) and keep the sites as passive as possible? (I want it this way so I have total freedom when I go travelling again)

The 3 basic problems that I have using this strategy is that I don't know what products make the most money, I don't know whether to focus on general SEO or adwords, and I don't know what it is possible to make and therefore I don't know what I can aim for generally and using the above strategy? (I know it is good to aim big) Let me explain further below.

1) I heard off someone I met that people were making alot of money affiliating Acai Berries and colon cleanser and similar weight loss/cure all type products. This guy said that people were having $100,000 dollar days doing it!? Is this possible to do using a simple strategy like the one above? Is this possible using any strategy? What specific experiences have people had affiliating to other peoples products and how much money did you make? What is possible basically?

2) Secondly has anyone had any experience in what products make the most money on the web? As stated above I have heard that the most profitable products are the ones that offer the 'instant cures' like weight loss products, anti aging products and anything that improves the physical body and has a sense of 'ego' in it. What are peoples experience with this? Is this true? if not what products/niches have you affiliated to that have made the most money?

3) Lastly this guy told me that if you knew what you were doing adwords was a much more effective strategy for driving lots of traffic to your website than general SEO could ever be? This intrigues me because I have been doing general SEO like article marketing, blog commenting, forum marketing and social bookmarking and the results have been slow but steady improvements. Is this true that Adwords or pay for traffic strategies are simply more effective when used right than general SEO could ever be? How much more effective?

Sorry for making this such a long post I thought would be alot better to include the 'whole picture' into the post so that people know where I am coming from and can dip in where appropriate. If anyone has got experience with any of this then just answer where you can. Many thanks

You will be giving away tons of business if you do not create an optin page and build a list.

I tried direct selling for a whole year. Then decided to build a list. I had my first $1,000 week within a month.

Looks like you have a challenge here. It also looks like you're restricting things that shouldn't be restricted, like your mailing lists. It's very difficult to build a profitable and lasting online business without a mailing list.

You should consider creating a series niche sites that revolve around the affiliate products of your choice. That's where the bulk of my online sales and profit comes from.

When you talk about a series niche site. You mean almost like a store selling a range of the affiliate products in your niche?

Also you can see the layout of my site by going to the links in my signature. I am guessing that the best way to build a mailing list for this site would be to either create a pop up opt in box or just have an opt in box in the sidebar? Any recommendations?
