I'm assuming Local Search means what it says - Local meaning where you are. Global meaning everyone else. But what does "Broad" and "Exact" mean? Exact meaning the search in quotes? Broad meaning no quotes? Also, what is considered heavy traffic by Global Searches? Also by Local Searches? |

You can find out the answer of broad match and phrase match here. In short, broad match means that whatever keyword you enter as broad match, when some types in that keyword in a sentence, you ads will show. Phrase match means that the searcher needs to type in the exact phrase, with words in front or behind the phrase match, your ad will show. Hope it helps. |

Hi bigcat1967, Broad, phrase and exact match refers strictly to keyword targeting options within your AdWords campaign. It has absolutely nothing to do with people using quotes in their search query. Anyone telling you this has no idea what they are talking about. If you are using the Keyword tool to determine how many potential impressions you will receive for your AdWords ads then this can be useful. However, if you are using the tool to research the number of searches for a particular term, then exact match is the only selection that will show you that data. Broad match can be useful if you want to get an idea of how many searches there might be for all the possible long tail variations of a root term, but you still need to identify those terms if plan on targeting them. So in most cases exact match is really the only number you will be interested in for SEO campaigns. Local searches means searches within the country you have selected, while global means searches in all counties by users who have their browser set for the language you selected. |

If you set up a campaign and only use "Broad" match then this allows google to not only use that exact word or phrase but also any synonyms or words that "google thinks are in relation" However with that being said you should always begin each one of your campaigns with all three types of the KW in your campaign. For example: car, "car", [car] You will quickly see which KW is giving you the best CTR but most importantly you have your conversion set up so you know which one is giving you the best conversions. ( lead , sale, opt in....whatever) Always have the content network turned off when your fist begin a campaign. Reason is because you don't know which keywords are conveting yet. You want your seach and content PPC campaigns to run seperatly. But that is a story for another day. Just have it off to begin with till you find out which words are converting then use those words in a content campaign. Once you find the KW that are not converting then quickly delete. P.S. If you are not using adwords editor ( a free tool from Google) then you are wasting hours of your life trying to manage your campaigns. Its a free download and has saved me hours maybe even days. You can make multiple changes at one time. ( any questions PM me) |
