Default seo.....AGAIN!!

Hi guys, this is my first post on this forum, so hi to everyone and thanks for taking time to read this thread.

Anyway, Im reasonably puter savvy, work for myself, I have a couple of websites which are work related, and have found a number of issues with Google which are SEO/SERPS related.

Sometimes I wonder if Google makes things complicated just to keep us 'hanging on' to keep us enthralled, to mainatin our obsession with search engines etc etc....anyway, Im probably miles off there, just why cant you just have something real simple instead of having over 200 criteria which affect your SERPS rating.

Enough!

My issue/question is this....

I have a site that at the moment Im primarily concerned with at the moment, the one in my signature.

Initially it used to do good in the results page with Google, alternating between number 1 and 3, depending on the exact search term that was used. Of late it has slipped in many cases down to the bottom half of the page, which for me isnt good enough. Other pages from other local companies who are involved in similiar work regularly beat it for position ranking although from what I can work out they have no incoming links, very poor meta tags and poorly constructed page. Whereas I have 40 or so.

Why is this? How can this be?

ALSO.......why hasnt google crawled my front page in over a month whilst some places are crawled daily? Where is the logic? Im all confuscious!

Additionally, if you subscribe to Google Adwords is there a possibility that your position in the organic links on the left of the search page results will suffer? Do they do this to try to encourage you to stay with Adwords if you see your search result suffering?

Anyway, thanks for yourtime.

Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Matt
