So the site in my signature is causing me headaches. It has all pages indexed in google yet i get no google traffic at all. Even the domain name only shows up if i type the .com in the search. It has been live for about 2 months now. A large part of the posts have been auto transfered from a blogger blog i ran and have now closed a few weeks ago. Is it penalizing me for duplicate content? How long before google likes me again? Or am i way off and something else is the cause? Any input or ideas very much appreciated |

Google will only give you traffic if your site is optimized correctly. getting indexed is only half the battle. You should now focus on ranking for niche specific keywords. You know, the usual SEO stuff of building backlinks etc. By the way I love the site. It could go viral. There's a site in your niche (not video based) that's about 3 years old and makes about 7K a month in advertising. Can't remember what it's called though. Anyhow good luck with your site. Hav |

Great site! Do you have the following plugins installed for Wordpress? all-in-one seo google sitemap generator Also, you will want to add ping sites to your "update services" section so that new posts/pages are automatically pinged for you. |

Thanks Justin, jpieter and John! Just checked my keyword use and using the all-in-one seo plugin i did overdo it a bit. Must have been a little excited when i activated that plugin lol...so i changed that. John I have the xml sitemap plugin, does this make a difference? I have a ton of sites in my "to ping list" not sure though if they have any impact at all. Any must haves you know of? So assuming I was keyword stuffing in my tags which is now resolved...how long will google still be hating me? ![]() Thanks everyone for your input! |

Have you created some type of NoIndex setting running on that site? I just checked it in Yahoo Site Explorer and it says you have only 1 page indexed in Yahoo. The home page. Google shows 137. That's weird. You need to make sure that you are don't have something running that is sabotaging your site from the inside without you knowing. |

Thanks Expert for taking a look... I don't think I have any type of noindex setting running...i think... could this be caused by some wrong setting on the all-in-one seo plugin or another plugin? oh boy i think my site is a mess...thanks for your time |

wow Mr Tomcat, cool site! don't give up if your website still receives the same amount of traffic even after you've made the changes. it takes time. furthermore, maybe you would like to try other free traffic generation methods? as mentioned, your site could go viral. try promoting it in social networks or social bookmarks if you want. it's free. all the best! love the videos. haha. Try using Google's Keyword tool, and select "website Url" for results. Google will crawl your site and they will give you an idea of what they think your site is mainly about. That way you can get keyword ideas that you can rank for and they may stick more. Hope this helps you out. |

How did you close the old site? Option 1 - just transferred content then deleted it (dumb) Option 2 - left snippets of all content, with links to each new location Option 3 - told blogger to run on a domain, then set your permalinks to match, or 301 redirect to new permalinks (can work for a while until Blogger spots you are no longer hosting with them, and adds an interstitial and kills juice Option 4 - set up a smart redirect using javascript (302 redirect) which potentially can transfer the juice, and visitors, without Blogger adding an interstitial. Now if your old site didn't have many links, it is potentially a none issue, but much bettter to handle this stuff correctly. |
