A keyword question- this example is for Building a site for 'diabetes cures'. I have a list of 15 keywords -> 15 pages i want to build a SEO site for,
Here are the keyword phrases in this example, in the following example I wil give some: I am planning to put content around each keywords, but for the homepage of my site- Which keyword should i target? (i am planning to have 15 pages- 1 per each keyword, but want to know which i should use for the homepage, as each word has a different word count, or should i consider the Words in the phrase? - help!) Question- which one of these keywords should i target on my www. mydomain.com index/home page? - Should i consider the Search volume and go for the biggest searched one ? or go for one in the middle of the list? or the least searched one? (nb, these 15 pages wil be interlinked etc) - but i just needed some SEO advice on which keyword below i should make into the index homepage, which will include content around that keyword... (and how would i chose this keyword from below, for further models?) 15 keywords + their wordtracker searches-count (per month i think) 145 -is there a cure for diabetes 140 -diabetes cure 75 -cure for diabetes 63 -natural cures for diabetes 25 -type 2 diabetes cure 22 -substance p diabetes possible cure 16 -natural cure for diabetes 14 -reverse cure remedy diabetes 12 -diabetes cures 11 -natural diabetes cures 10 -canada diabetes cure study mice 9 -cure diabetes 9 -diabetes natural cure 9 -new diabetes cure 9 -stem cell cure diabetes although this question is just about 'which keywords should i use for my index homepage' which keyword below i should make into the index homepage, which will include content around that keyword...+ any other advice? - |

From an SEO point of view? I wouldn't choose ANY of them.
The ones that are worth having, chances are good competitive isn't the right word to describe how hard it will be to rank. The rest of them just are not "buying" keywords. |

If going commercial I would do some heavy market research before committing. Now if it's a passion that is different. my 2 cents | |

I understand what you are looking for.
And "Diabetes Cures" would be your main niche...correct? "Diabetes Cures" and "cure for diabetes" are the only phrases with any real amount of searches. Most of the other phrases have rather low search volume, that means people are not searching this term in a large amounts. 2,000 searches per month are negligible. So you really have two phrases that do have "some" volume which will be putting you up against Mayo Clinic and other established sites. This means you are going to have to work your tail off to catch up to them. Once you do catch them, will the income that you create from adsesne be worth the work you have involved getting to and maintaining top Search Ranks? OR Will you be working your butt off and even though you gain good SERPs, you get several dollars per week for 40 hour work weeks? Look at your competitors. For that phrase are they getting any real traffic? I do not see it. You may get your name in lights but it may cost you. That is why I say I would make sure the market income is there. If no one clicks your ads you are SOL even though you just worked 2 years straight to become king.... PS: I'm not trying to discourage you but be realistic. If I were going to go through the amount of work you are going to have to do then I would go for the gold and go for "diabetes" The payoff would be 100 X the others and they would be "sub-keywords"...IMO |

innocent07,
Keep in mind, wordtracker search counts are not very accurate. Use the free AdWords keyword tool to verify search volume: natural cure for diabetes 2400 natural diabetes cures 3600 diabetes cures 9900 diabetes natural cure 6600 substance p diabetes possible cure -1 canada diabetes cure study mice -1 stem cell cure diabetes 720 reverse cure remedy diabetes -1 natural cures for diabetes 2400 cure for diabetes 22200 cure diabetes 60500 diabetes cure 60500 new diabetes cure 880 type 2 diabetes cure 4400 is there a cure for diabetes 2900 You can pretty much ignore anything under 2,400/mo. Also, as the other guy mentioned, the keywords with the highest search volume might be difficult to rank for. Just type them into google and check the # of results: For example, diabetes cures gives 1,320,000 results. That's quite competitive. You can try "diabetes cures" too. That's 186,000 results. Not too great. It looks to me like "diabetes cures" is too general for a niche site. Have you thought about looking for a good sub-niche? Just off the top of my head, something like "gestational diabetes" or "type 2 diabetes diet" or something along those lines might work. For now, let's pick "gestational diabetes" as your primary keyword. Then, your home page would be about "gestational diabetes" and your individual pages would be about "gestational diabetes diet" and "gestational diabetes symptoms" etc. Of course, check the search volume to pick your exact keywords. Well, hope this helps. Good luck! |

I have about 30 sites. I get what you're asking. Have I personally used this method to get 1st page rankings for my sites? Absolutely, without a doubt, yes.

It depends I would look at the competition for the keyword phrases. Use a tool like Market Samurai to see how difficult it will be to get into the top 5 google. Than choose one that gets good traffic but you can dominate.
