Am I wasting my time with Unique Article Wizard?

I've been using UAW (unique article wizard) for about 6 weeks now. It's been very effective in building me backlinks and the service does what it says it'll do.

My issue isn't a matter of whether the service is worth the money or not, but it's more about the time that each article submission takes out of my day. After learning about the results the service gives me, you won't need to be an owner of the product to give your insight as to whether I'm making good use of my link building time by spending much of it on unique article wizard.

Each article submission, from beginning to end, takes about 30 minutes of my time (maybe 25 on a good day).

In my experience, the article is distributed to several hundred sites, a fraction (maybe 10%) of which show up in google search results if I run a search.

However, I'd say that only about 6-8 backlinks (on average) per article submission show up in Backlinkwatch, Yahoo Site Explorer, or any other backlink tracker. I've written articles with backlinks to at least 50 unique pages, so I can cite this average of 6-8 links per submission with confidence.

The sites my articles are being submitted to via UAW aren't exactly influential ones and I have to wonder if my time could be better spent with the freed up 30 minutes than it is with the 6-8 backlinks it gets me via UAW. I'm getting nice results with the service, but find that I have higher backlink quantities than sites that still outrank me, and I'm wondering if at least part of it has to do with the quality of links I'm getting out of UAW.

For example, in the 30 minutes spent with a UAW submission, I could make an extra (or stronger) linkwheel with SEnuke. I could spend it commenting on more blogs related to my niche. I could write an extra article or two to post on EzineArticles.

Of course, I use other means of building links as it is, but the UAW strategy takes out a nice little chunk of my day (I'm submitting at least 4 articles daily) and comprises most of the time I spend building backlinks. Perhaps I could automate some efforts more easily with $67/month and spend my freed up time doing other things to improve my SERPs?

Any thoughts or insight would be very much appreciated!

Thanks for the response. In terms of traffic, I'm getting very little clickthrough traffic from the distributed articles themselves, as I doubt many of the pages/sites that the articles are being posted on rank well in the search engines.

As far as my own SEO results go, I'm ranking on the first page for a handful of the terms that I've targeted, but once they hit the spot they land on (usually within about a week), I find it very hard to build on the positions as they seem to remain stuck for a while.

I just wonder if I'm spinning my wheels a bit by spending two hours each day preparing four articles for UAW. While I do get a fair amount of backlinks per submission, I'm wondering if I can possibly make better use of my time (and possibly put the saved money to work elsewhere).

It sounds like you have partly answered your own question here. If it is not doing anything positive for you then you should change tactic.

The answer to your question is to TEST.

How long have you been doing it for? It does take a while to get good results. However, if you can see it is not working - then you should try something else.

How about spending more time focusing on finding those less competitive keywords and writing content that is REALLY INTERESTING to read instead of plastering average content everywhere?

If you participate in your niche in a high intensity level and add comments etc to other people's blogs in your niche, you may see the effects are more 'genuine' and you will start to get a reputation in your niche. This would be better in the long term for your business.

You can't count the number of back links that show up in ANY of the results you see as the number you have. Neither Yahoo, or any of the software products can give you an accurate number because they all come from either Yahoo or some other type of search engine data file.

The reason for this is that Yahoo and Google do not reveal the number of links they have found, because they don't want you to have any chance of backwards engineering their formula. Estimates run around 10% to 20% is all that they will admit to. So if you show ten links showing up, you have to have at least 100 to 200 that they actually found and are using in their ranking of your site.

I have move on from Linkvana, UAW and AMA to Angela kind of High PR backlinks, just for the reason of time consuming with articles for backlink and ranking.

I found it extremely effective to gain links from high PR sites, you will see your ranking move up faster with High PR back links than mass distribution with articles...

Article directories should be use to:

1. Rank high for content and get direct traffic from search engine.

2. Write killer content that attract mass distribution on different websites and higher click-through.

We need to use our time efficiently, because time = money! For backlinks purpose, either you outsource the articles for cheap and low quality content, or just use High PR links from Angela & Paul, myself and many other WSO High PR backlinks!

I use UAW as just part of my overall link building strategy. I write one article in spin format and then submit it using both UAW and SENuke. If you use spun articles with UAW, it only takes like 5 minutes to submit. Its a little expensive to have both memberships, but the results are definitely worth the cost in my experience.

Don't know which method you are using - but it shouldn't be taking that long to do it. If articles aren't formatted correctly that will slow you down but if your content versions are ready to go, the submission itself is fairly quick.

Drop it, it's a waste of time. You don't need to post to hundreds of different article directories and you certainly don't need to write 4 articles a day.

This process includes writing the articles themselves. The submission itself generally takes about 5 minutes, maybe less.

Are you submitting one spun version and simply that for UAW? I've tried doing this too (spun at around 35-40%) and I've found the rise in backlinks to be much lower than I get from submitting it to UAW the "usual" way.

I submit 1 article (that has spin syntax included) 3 times. If that's what you are doing as well, I don't see why the backlinks you would get would be different from any other way.

Hey dandee, can you elaborate on the part where you submit to UAW the "usual" way? It seems that UAW is not bringing me much traffic due to its low PR sites.
