Default Ethical question: Should I write a WSO to teach how to find anyone's back links?

I'm a bit worried that this would step on too many toes...

Let me know what y'all think.

If you are in the business of ranking websites for traffic, then NO

If are in the business of selling information products without the aid of serps, then YES

Forget about other people toes, think about your own (covered in expensive Italian shoes bought with the money you made) :-)

Isn't it pretty easy to find the backlinks for a site? I don't understand why anyone would buy this WSO... or am I missing something.

It's not going to be a super product based on that alone. You'll need to add some more value to it, I've already done this, and am now improving on it, for a CB product.

Hi Joe118,

I am new here at the Warrior Forum.
Would this be similar to using something like YSE to just find the links to the money site.
Or a method to find complete linkwheels structures, etc.

Once you find the backlinks, then finding the linkwheels and structure is only another step away. Find the backlinks to those too

Hi Intrepreneur,

Thanks for the reply.
I may learn something new here.

I have a site I put up earlier this year.
Its ranks in the top 3 on Google for my keyword phrase and makes a sale or two per day.

It has all the normal backlinks: ezinearticles, directory submissions, squdioo, HP, YA and so on, from all over the place.
Then I have backlinks to those sites.
I also have a standard linkwheel around the site.

How would it help my competitors to find those links?

It is fairly easy to do so easy that I like the others do not think that anyone beyond a complete newbie would want it. It is just my two penny worth but why would they pay for it when they may not understand its value. Soory I do not want ot rain on your parade, but can't wee why as a stand alone product that anyone would salute it?

Joe my last product that i just stopped selling had a base of this strategy with other strategy's included.

Sold very well but sales slowed down towards the end so im not 100% sure if this would sell that well anymore as its not really a hot topic now!

Plus there are some other wso's doing the same currently!

If your compeitiors know nothing about SEO or how to rank, they will learn a lot by copying what you do.

That's how I learned SEO, through 1 year trial and error and through becoming a power searcher.

I spent one whole month analysing the search engines, both Yahoo and Google, still haven't got around to doing Bing. In that one month, I learned more than I did from any other SEO product, or even through my first 6 months of trying to rank.

Best Wishes

Mark

I didnt ask about whether it'd sell Obviously this wouldn't be the entire product.

I am getting the strong feeling that its OK to take someone's high ranking site and show how they got there by backlinking.

One of the problems with newbie based entry level info products is that you have to price it as such ... then, for the mere pittance of $7 - $27 you then are subjected to the scrutiny of user reviews in your WSO thread.

Might want to read between the lines a little ...

Just remember, theres a fine line between ruffling feathers and stepping on toes vs. just being a douche' bag. What do you want to be known for?

I think it is OK.
I think it is must do research on your potential keyword phrases before building a site that will use SEO for traffic.
Of course this is my first day here with the warriors, so I may be missing something about the question.

Good Luck with your product and WSO.

analyzing competitors backlinks should be part of everyones SEO strategy, infact this should be done at keyword research stage before you even build a site, unless you look at the backlinks of your competitors for keyword phrases how will you know if you can outrank them? or how will you know what you need to do in order to outrank them.

If you decide you are going after the keyphrase then you should note down all the links they have that you can also get a link from ie blog comments, forum sigs, directories, Profile Links, free bloghosts, article directories.

then the first stage of your offsite seo will be to get as many of the same links as possible as them, the next stage will be to find more places of your own to widen the ammount of links you have, As long as your on-page is sorted and give it some time for your links to get indexed and age a little you will outrank them.

unless you take these steps you are doing SEO blind, this is why it also makes me laugh that alot of peoples competitor research on how easy a keyword to rank for is how many results are returned in google for your keyword in phrase match or allintitle.
This is silly because what if the highly unlikely case that the keyword you are targeting only has 10 results you think great 10 results all I will have to do is get indexed and I should rank easy, well what if all those 10 websites have at least 5000 links each and have a decent pr5 minimum and are all over 10 years old. You will not outrank these anytime soon without some hard core seo and plenty of time to let your domain and links age.

Competitive analysis and constant look for new backlinks is just SEO routine, I don't see any problem teaching people?

In fact, these kind of information is widely available over the Internet!

I don't see why this would be a problem . . . There is enough free training on how to do it anyway.
