Default High Quality Score, High Bids But No Impressions or Clicks???

I haven't used AdWords in several months and I logged into my account today to start a few campaigns for sh*ts and giggles. The new system was very confusing and I must say I don't like it.

At any rate, I got the campaigns launched but after 12 hours, I have no impressions or clicks??? I've never experienced this before. Usually, I get impressions and clicks immediately after I launch a campaign.

I'm promoting a Click Bank product and I'm direct linking. Luckily, there isn't a ton of competition so the "one url per keyword" rule isn't that big of a factor. So to rapidly test this market (and because Google told me I had to spend more to get on the first page for many of my keywords), I just jacked up all my bids to $1/click. I have my budget set at $50/day.

I looked at the quality scores and for every keyword in my adgroups they are either "7/10 or 10/10." This is a fairly popular niche so I should be getting plenty of impressions at this point but I'm getting a big goose egg.

The only thing I can find that looks "fishy" is that the status for the keywords say "eligible." (whatever that means - I don't recall seeing that in AdWords before).

I'm stumped. Did Google change the way things work when they rolled out the new interface? Is there something I need to "turn on" to get my campaigns rolling? As far as I can tell, I did everything correctly and my campaigns should be active and getting plenty of impressions by now.

Thanks,

Travis

I've had the same issue for 48 hours on my new campaign.

I'm also direct linking a clickbank product and getting 10/10 QS pretty easily.

My Ads show up in search results... I get a "Few" impressions but I'm running a pretty hardcore campaign.. I know for a fact I should have 20x the impressions I do. I have yet to receive a click either.

Eligible means everything is OK. Ads will be shown. Of course, people have to use your keywords and they must see your ad (if you are on page 2 and they don't look at second page of results, you'll get no impressions). In your case, you must also be have a better ad rank than every one else for that keyword and that affiliate. I'm guessing that is your problem. You say not a lot of competition and it shouldn't be that big of a factor. I disagree. It is a big factor, regardless of number of other affiliates for the same offer. You have to beat their ad rank which means better ads with higher CTR. You are heading in right direction with QS of 7. You may want to jack up your bid for a day or two just to outrank other affiliates and get a feeling of how much you may expect to pay to do so and what position your ads will show. No guarantee however they will be displayed as you may still be outranked.

With the recent changes in Google, some people are experiencing what I am personally calling a re-evaluation period. With many accounts being slapped and an extremely unusual amount of bannings, due to the methods of marketing that have been used over the last couple of years, its hard to totally know what the issue could be at this point.

My advice to you, as I've had similar situations with some of my accounts that have been active, be patient when launching a new campaign, don't make any adjustments for 2-3 days (unless you are receiving a normal amount of traffic from the get go), double check your settings, and add a article or two to the website you have your landing page on every 2-3 days as well. Probably the biggest tip I can give is to make sure your affiliate links are going through a php redirect and not the direct affiliate link itself. As far as direct linking, its hit or miss with using that method on Google right now.

If you can describe in general, how you have everything set up I may be able to help you more. Like, is it a one page lander? blog site plus landers? etc. When using the google keyword tool, what is the estimated CPC cost for the main 1-2 keywords in your niche, that way we can determine if you've got a high enough bid. Avg search volumes on some of the main kws you are bidding on? and are you targeting by exact, phrase, broad match?

Hey guys, I just wanted to update this thread. My ads must have been in some kind of holding period because around noon today it was like a switch went on and suddenly I was getting impressions and clicks - and I hadn't touched anything. It was as if I just launched the campaign at noon instead of the day prior.

I've never had this happen before. Usually when I launch something I start seeing action immediately. It was a solid 24 hours before my stuff actually went live. It was pretty weird. Oh well...all systems go now.
