Share your best free web directories

Hi Warriors,

I know that directory submissions are a bit old hat when it comes to link building, but I still believe they have a place in everyones offsite strategy.

Websites have recieved links from directories since the internet was first around, so to make your site look as established and natural as possible, you'll need to get a number of links from web directories.

I thought I'd created this thread as a place where Warriors could come and share good web directories with each other, and take out some of the pain of sourcing them individual.

To define good, all directories posted should have the follow attributes:

1) Have pages where listings reside indexed in Google

2) Have a free listing option without the need for a reciperical link

2) Have a high PageRank domain if possible

To get the list start, I thought I'd post 30 directoires that I've had success with so far. Please post any directories that your aware of which meet the above criteria.

Here's a PR4 directory, links indexed in google, no link back required:
Teachers Resource Directory

Be careful, I'd advise not to submit at most 2 sites, on topic.
It is a educational directory, but has a "worth visiting" category
for other sites.

It may take up to a week for them to approve your site, but
they will if it follows the rules. It's a sweet little PR4 directory,
I'd hate to see it be abused.

If anyone else knows sites like that, post up!

Thanks Dirky, I'm sure there are some good directories there although I'm particularly looking for directories that people have first hand experience of. So many directories have 7000 pending links or similar and not given any attention by the webmasters so what's the point in submitting?

I only submit to few directories such as dmoz, most directories or maybe almost all directories requires payment and if you just click on free submission, expect a long wait for your website to be listed or of you are out of luck after the long wait you will just be deleted.. so to avoid wasting time on submissions, better follow what the thread starter has said.. pick quality directories.

The main one for me is Link Market - Free Link Exchange, Link Swap and Link Trade Directory.
