Big difference in Google and Yahoo positions for my site

The site I'm talking about is only around a month old, so I'm not expecting to rank on the first page for a few months yet. I've been building lots of backlinks in the meantime though. What I have noticed though, is the positions in Google and Yahoo it currently occupies for my chosen keyword phrase are very different. In Google it is 336, Yahoo it is 44. I've noticed this in the past with others sites I've had too - it seems to be easier to rank higher quicker on Yahoo. Why is this do you think?
