New AdWords Quality Score Algo is LIVE...

...at least it is in MY account. They said they'd be rolling out the new changes over the course of a few weeks.

The good news?

Quality Score is actually a SCORE of 1/10 (mine seem to be between 7/10 and 9/10)

The bad news?

The new long tail campaign I put up to test this got hammered with Poor (was OK).

More soon. Gotta go play with this some more...

Yup, lots of changes and things to test. I just started back up a compaign that had been slapped. Lets see if this is a polite was to say your ads are running vs slapped to $10 min, but still give you zero impressions regardless of bids. Still always got me that my keyword could be "stop foreclosure", my site could be stopforeclosureabc.com, and was to a company that stops foreclosure (No affiliate links).

Here's what I'm seeing so far since I originally posted. Many of the Poor have changed to OK and a few of the Great have lost a point or two as well. It's very early to tell. After it runs a full day tomorrow, we should all know a little more.

I'm interested to hear results from anybody starting up their previously slapped campaigns or ad groups. Unfortunately, I deleted all slapped and non-performers as part of trying to deal with previous slaps and I'm not about to dick around reloading them.

Gonna put up a few totally new campaigns pointing to "virgin" domains.

The campaigns that these screencaps came from are strictly for Google Search.

What affects AdSense earnings is the Content Network in AdWords.

Brian, slapped is slapped. Keywords may be active, cost per click may be raised, but they are still dead. I even went up to $5/click and still no traffic. You can bid what they say is first page rank price ... no traffic. So it is just a polite way to give you no traffic if they deem quality score poor, with out "officially" saying your ad is inactive.

While in the past "slapped is slapped" was true, I believe that the recent changes mean that people who were slapped for using too broad a keyword my now begin to see impressions.

On Google's blog they say:

Most keywords that are 'inactive for search' today will continue to accrue very few (or no) impressions due to their low Quality Score. For some currently inactive keywords, however, we may find that they perform very well for certain queries or in certain circumstances -- in which case, these keywords may begin to receive impressions.

I noticed on monday that things seemed to be changing in my adwords account. At first I was not sure If I would like it but i think it is for the better.

Before when google would decide to slap a domain it was nearly impossible for you to use that domain name again. I would just buy another domain move all my landing pages and then tey to tweak them a little more to googles specifications. It usually worked out but it took loads of time moving things around.

At least now it seems as though they are trying to say we won't totally ban your domain. We just won't show any of your ads until you fix what we don't like.

I had not been in my account for a while.

I like the new information. It was good to see that most of my keywords quality scores were 8 or 9.

I did get rid of a few that were 6 or less. I will have to get back to testing now.

I don't find much difference. Who cares if they go from a scale of 1 to 10 versus the old system of poor to excellent. They still don't tell you much about how to fix what they don't like. This is just a lot of lip service by them imho.

Now people are seeing $100 first page bids...LOL

have you tried COPY and PASTING the exact words in your ADS on your landing page? If you do, that also goes towards relevancy. Not to mention of course many of us know to use the keywords on the page it self and related keywords.
