If you're like most people, you let the Social Bookmarking site use it's "defaults" for the actual 'Social Bookmark'. If so, you are squandering a LOT of what SB'ing can do for you. As an example, if I tag my article "Learn Dog Training The Easy Way!" from my site "Dog Training" at a typical SB site, the 'default' entry is going to look like this: Learn Dog Training The Easy Way! - Dog Training http://my-dog-training-site.com/dog-training To learn easy dog training blah blah.... So far, so good, right? What's wrong with that picture, though? The "Default" has grabbed my page title to use as the anchor text for my link! But I'm really not trying to rank for "Learn Dog Training The Easy Way! - Dog Training", I'm trying to rank for "Dog Training". When you create your bookmarks, edit the bookmarking title to just the keyword/phrase you're actually trying to rank for: Dog Training http://my-dog-training-site.com/dog-training To learn easy dog training blah blah.... That seems like good advice. More keywords will confuse the big-G algorithm and make the ranking for a subset of these keywords less effective. It's always better to tell big-G *exactly* what you're trying to rank for. By the way, by that measure, you should also fix the page title to be more specific. |
